With three teams vying for the title in the Crime Scene Kitchen Season 3 finale, only one team would earn the winner title. The team that cracked the puzzle walked away with the prize and glory.

After all the challenges, the two finale bakes needed to be even bigger and harder than anything the bakers had seen this season. Although solving the clues is key, another twist entered the conversation. In the finale, execution and taste factored in the judges’ decision. A bad dessert would count against the bakers, even if they guessed correctly.

For the first challenge, all the teams surmised that they were making a dome or bomb. While only Jessica and Lenore found all the puzzle clues, that element did not ensure high praise from the judges. By choosing to use dark chocolate ganache instead of following the clues to a white chocolate, that gamble did not pay off.

The judges were critical of the flavor combination. The contrast of the light, bright citrus and the heavy chocolate was criticized by Curtis Stone. Even though they discovered the clues, the dessert went astray.

The other teams were equally wrong. While Daniel and Vicky had a tasty dessert, it was not the correct. Derion and Janusz missed several clues and used the wrong color.

Since all three teams failed the challenge, no one went into the final bake with a lead. It would come down to the last challenge. Whoever does best in the last challenge will walk away with the Crime Scene Kitchen Season 3 winners’ title.

For the last bake of the season, the three teams headed to the crime scene and faced a plethora of clues and misdirection. From cookie stencils based on kitchen tiles to citrus flavors and semolina flour, this challenge seemed like multiple bakes stacked into a single dessert.

Even though execution is a bigger factor in the finale, solving the clues is still a major element of Crime Scene Kitchen. Whether the cake was orange or lemon and orange was a differential. Additionally, the use of semolina flour set one team apart from another.

The prettiest cake was clearly Jessica and Lenore’s. Although their cookie title décor was a little rustic, their top tier was visual perfection. It is clear that these two bakers own their own bakeries and specialize in cakes.

The other two teams had missteps. From Derion and Janusz's burnt cookies to Danile and Vicky's scale issues, the other bakers’ cakes did not meet the requirements. The flavors were on point, but they were not perfect.

Given that the winning team needed to do well in all aspects, it was clear that one team had an edge in the final cake. Earning the win was Jessica and Lenore. As the judges explained, it was their overall detective work in the finale and their near flawless semolina olive oil cake with orange curd with visually impressive decorations that secured the title.

Crime Scene Kitchen is closed. Will another season be on the horizon for the popular FOX food television show? Only time will tell.
