While the old school song might reference peanuts and Cracker Jack, the reality is that hot dogs are the baseball’s favorite food pairing. As the MLB season heats up, epic, over the top, gigantic hot dog menu items will be the must have food of summer’s favorite pastime.

Stadium food has entered its gigantic era. Even though everyone cheers for the epic base-clearing home run, it is the food and beverages that keep people occupied for all the innings. When the game gets a little slow, people are happy to graze their way through it all.

Hot dogs are a baseball staple. Over the years, the specialty dogs have piled on curious toppings, found collaborations with team players, and borrowed inspiration from regional cuisine. That simple sausage is far from boring.

Levy and its culinary hospitality team across its various stadiums have pushed the boundaries of its offerings. From collective beverage holders to innovative dessert offerings, fans are hungry to devour them all.

Most recently, loanDepot Park, home of the Miami Marlins revealed the Ultimate Hot Dog Tower. This impressive display features three tiers of stuffed meat deliciousness.

According to Levy, the Ultimate Hot Dog Tower includes: four hot dogs, four Polish sausages and four corn dogs. All the classic condiments, sauerkraut, sweet onions, mustard, ketchup and relish, are included, too.

Plus, the top tier is loaded with salchipapas. For those unfamiliar with this food, it is a Latin American street food that consists of beef sausages and French fries. It is usually served with a sauce and some coleslaw.

Adding the salchipapas to the Ultimate Hot Dog Tower is smart. The blend of All-American classics with a Latin American dish helps to cross cultures. Given that the MLB is representative of various backgrounds, the food served should be as diverse.

While the Miami Marlins offering is totally real, this idea of an over the top hot dog extravaganza is similar to the Oscar Mayer joke turned reality.  Some people might remember the “Oscar Mayer Wienie Bowl.” That helmet full of hot dogs made its real appearance at Citi Field for the Mets opening day.

What is next for the classic hot dog? The MLB season is just starting. As the summer gets rolling, more over the top menu items could be heading to a stadium near you.
