While Butterbeer Crepes and the French Butterbier have captivated guests’ tastebuds and social media feeds, the real dining gem is not instantly seen as guests enter that magical portal. For guests who crave an authentic dining experience, the Epic Universe Wizarding World restaurant that is a must dine is definitely Le Gobelet Noir.
As guests run to the impressive queue of Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry of Magic, some people might miss a little alleyway sitting just across from beautiful Café L’air De La Sirène. Unlike darken paths in Diagon Alley that plunge guests into shadows the Dark Arts, this slightly less traveled path offers a true jewel in the robust Epic Universe dining options.
The restaurant is Le Gobelet Noir. While the restaurant is said to attract Dark witches and wizards, anyone is welcome to feast at these tables. With several rooms to sit a spell, many people will want to linger as they indulge in their flavorful, nuanced, and well-composed dishes.
Unlike some of the other French centric options available throughout this Epic Universe Wizarding World space, this menu features some Bavarian dishes and other hearty bites. Just like the travelers who long for a comforting, robust meal after a long journey, this food satisfies both the hunger and the soul.
The menu features an array of dishes that are far from old school theme park fare. For example, the Warm Shaved Beef Sandwich features butterkase with the shaved corned beef. That semi-soft German cow’s milk cheese offers a sumptuous contrast to the well-seasoned corned beef and pungent German mustard. Nested between two pieces of hearty multi-grain bread, it is quite satisfying.

A shareable item that can feed a table is the Alchemist’s Platter. A similar concept is available at other Harry Potter restaurants in the other Universal Orlando theme parks. This option features smoked sausage, pierogies, beets, pickled egg, pretzel, and more. The pickled egg will delight anyone who loves a good briny bite.

For a plated option, two items are a standout. The Jagerschnitzel has a delightful crunch that shows the culinary team’s knowledge that this texture is vital to a well-composed dish. Even with the brown gravy, the crispy schnitzel stands up to the sauce. Be sure to save some gravy to use as a dipping sauce for the fries.

The other option that is just the opposite of the hearty Bavarian dishes is the herb crusted cod. Served over potatoes, the delicate fish with caramelized leeks and a creamy broth is beautifully subtle. The dish proves that hearty does not have to be heavy.

Lastly, instead of another Butterbeer, it is better to opt for the Black Forest cake. The visually stunning dessert is a feast for the eyes. The chocolate cake's tender crumb has been soaked with cherries. As the perfectly tempered chocolate shell gives way to the layers of cake, chocolate mousse, and cherries, it is the dessert that will have diners under its spell.
These food items and many more are part of the Le Gobelet Noir menu at Epic Universe. In addition to food, there are several specialty beverages on the menu, including Le Breuvage Sombre du Goblet Noir and Gigglewater. Food and beverages can be mobile ordered via the Universal Orlando app or at the restaurant.
Epic Universe, the newest theme park within the Universal Orlando portfolio, is now open for guests. Check with the brand's website for ticketing information and operating hours.
