While Butterbeer Season has people enjoying more than just the iconic frosty beverage, Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe has a new Butterbeer inspired dish that has everyone talking. It seems that part of that one-day ticket experience will be sitting down at the table to enjoy a meal in the Wizarding World.
As many people are aware, Epic Universe will feature the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic. While the anticipated ride has received a lot of buzz, the specialty food items take a different approach. Blending classic French cuisine with a twist, the Universal Orlando culinary team is ready to showcase their refinement.
In a recent announcement, the Ministry of Magic will feature several dining locations, including Café L’air De La Sirene, Le Gobelet Noir and others. These restaurants’ menu will feature French inspired food that feels like it has been transported from a brasserie steps from the Champs Élysées.
Beyond the simple baguette and quiche Lorraine, it is the Butterbeer Crepe that will have everyone longing for that first bite. It is the first time that Butterbeer has been transformed into a crepe. While there is a Butterbeer pot of crème and ice cream options, this dish is the heartiest flavor interpretation to date.

According to the Universal Culinary Team, the Butterbeer Crepe features a shortbread cookie butter, Bavarian cream, Butterbeer cream, strawberries, Butterbeer drizzle and a Butterbeer shortbread cookie. As the description notes, it is a celebration of sweetness. While Butterbeer is front and center, the other flavors help make those butterscotch notes pop.
Additionally, the combination of textures is vital to the overall eating enjoyment. From the crunch of the cookies to the juiciness of the strawberries, those contrasts make the delicate crepe even more enjoyable.
The use of the strawberries is smart. Since the dish needs some note of brightness, the classic fruit is approachable and not divisive. Even though butterscotch is not often paired with fruit, strawberries and Bavarian cream work well together.
While the Butterbeer flavor is the big draw for the dish, highlighting a crepe is a smart choice for the Universal culinary team. The success of the crepe kiosk location in Universal Studios proves that guests appreciate that French-inspired dish. Whether it is sweet or savory, people happily line up for the well-filled dish.
Although it is unclear whether Universal tested a version of this Butterbeer inspired dish previously, one thing is clear. The culinary team has master the crepe. This plated version should be highly successful at the Epic Universe restaurant.
Will the Butterbeer crepe be guests’ first order in the Ministry of Magic within Epic Universe. The countdown to May 22 is quickening.
