For many people, a frozen treat instantly brings a smile. The simple act of holding the stick and quickly eating that food before it melts can make all the other noise of the day disappear. With the new Frollies from Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, the fruity frozen flavor brings extra fun to the table.
From a gigantic scoop smooshed into a cone to the character shaped frozen pop, there is something fun about eating a frozen dessert. Even though the bowl and the spoon will never go out of style, the pure simplicity of enjoying food on a stick can make even the stodgiest person feel like a kid again.
That willingness to embrace the fun with food is at the heart of Frollies. These frozen treats are “frozen fruit lollies.” While not exactly a lollipop, the fun shaped, fruit infused food captures a sense of whimsy with each bite.
As Meredith Saxe, Marketing Director explained, “We couldn’t be more excited to bring Frollies into the market. Not only are they delicious and fun, but they let you really enjoy the moment without worrying about what’s inside. A perfect treat for the whole family to enjoy!”
The Frollies are available in three flavors, watermelon, pineapple, and strawberry. Each sorbet like frozen dessert combines fruit with juice.
The traditional fruit shape for each flavor is quite clear. Visually focused food seems to be a trend across the dessert space. Hershey’s candy brands capture this idea and Dreyer’s is now following suit.
Watermelon seems to be the most successful flavor. That wedge on a stick brings together watermelon with apple water ice. The seeds are chocolate pieces. The combination of sweet and tart is quite refreshing. For anyone who loves a wedge of watermelon on a hot summer day, this frozen treat is a ray of sunshine on a winter day.
The Pineapple and Strawberry flavors are equally as successful. Each flavor is sweet but not cloying. It satisfies that craving without being too indulgent.
The new Frollies are available at select stores now and a larger rollout will begin in April. Each bar is 60 calories and are gluten-free.
