Hell’s Kitchen Season 23 episode 4 exclusive clip: Where’s the pickle?

With the Blue Team down three chefs, it seems that these head chefs are in quite a pickle. As seen in this Hell’s Kitchen Season 23 episode 4 exclusive clip, a pickle challenge requires a pickle ingredient. Leaving off a key ingredient will get some salty comebacks from Gordon Ramsay.

The premise of this Hell’s Kitchen season is “Head Chefs Only.” When that theme was announced, everyone assumed that these chefs would nail every dinner service and impress at every turn. Although the challenges have seen some impeccable dishes, dinner service has been a nightmare.

Time and again, the chefs are incorrectly cooking proteins, not communicating on the line, and otherwise not executing. Chefs can have a bad day, but many of these mistakes could be avoided. The little details matter, especially when the stakes are high.

Although dinner service has been less than stellar, the challenges have been when the chefs’ talents shine. In Hell’s Kitchen Season 23 episode 4, the challenge is all about the pickle.

Anyone in the food world appreciates that pickles or pickle flavors have taken over the shelf. It is more than just a cucumber soaked in brine. Vegetables, fruits, and more can get a pickle makeover. In this challenge, it would probably be more of a “quickle” but that briny brightness needs to be well balanced.

While all those concepts are true, one part is essential. The pickle ingredient needs to be on the plate.

As Amanda describes her dish, it sounds amazing. That bite would be well balanced and a great example of pickled Brussel sprouts. Unfortunately, the pickled item is not on the plate.

While everyone will have to wait and see what happens to Amanda’s dish, it seems likely that the plate will not help the Red Team earn a win. Whether or not her teammates can overcome her mistake remains to be seen.
