At Sam’s Club, their hot dog is a staple. The simple meal is always a great value. This holiday season, the iconic hot dog is getting a flavor makeover. Ready for that first taste of the Holidog?

The hot dog is vehicle for all types of flavors. Beyond dragging it through the garden or heaping spoonfuls of chili, the simple food can easily build on that foundational flavor. Nestled into the bun, the taste can go savory, sweet, or anything in between.

The Holidog is a special, limited time offering that piles the hot dog with Thanksgiving and Christmas flavors. Available only at special Sam's Club pop-ups in select cities, anyone can recreate the ideas at home. While some people might be skeptical, their curiosity will have them wanting to take that first bite.

The creative holiday food items are: Club Mash Up, Something Sweet, and Season’s Meatings. To be clear, these ingredient combinations are not typical. They are meant to push the flavor conversation into unchartered territory.

The Club Mash Up tops the dog with mashed potatoes and Christmas cookies. While mashed potatoes seem like a plausible topping, the sweetness from the Christmas cookies is a little different. Maybe that sugary note is similar to a sweet neon relish scenario.

With the Something Sweet, the combination of pumpkin pie and candy canes is definitely not on most people’s food mash up bingo card. While the pumpkin pie and hot dog can play off the warm spices notes, the peppermint is quite unusual. This one might be the most daring of the ingredient combinations.

Lastly, the Season’s Meatings will be the huge hit. Some other quick service restaurants might have the meats, but this combination of hot dog, turkey, and prime rib could inspired some stadium dogs. Do not snooze on this combo.

In addition to the three curated flavors, Sam’s Club encourages people to create their own Holidog. It is recommended to choose one Thanksgiving topping, Member’s Mark Hickory Smoked Whole Turkey, Member’s Mark Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes, Member’s Mark Apple Pie and one Christmas topping, Member’s Mark Fully Cooked Prime Rib, Member’s Mark Christmas Cutout Cookies, Crushed Doscher’s Candy Canes.

The obvious choice is the mashed potatoes and prime rib. Someone will come up with a creative take. Additionally, any Holidog can be garnished with gravy, parsley, whipped cream, or cranberry sauce.

While many people would want to try this food mash up, it is only available in New York, Dallas, and Nashville at select pop-ups. If the pop-up is not in your area, consider creating your own version or use the concept as inspiration for your own Holidog.

Ready to for taste of the Holidog? It might not be as memorable as Elf pizza, but it will get people talking.
