While New Orleans might be the Big Easy, the community has discerning palates when it comes to certain local dishes. In Kitchen Nightmares Voleo’s Seafood Restaurant, the blackened flounder is a dish that is worse than just falling flat. This food fail is unforgiveable.

The new season of Kitchen Nightmares has Gordon Ramsay trying to save New Orleans restaurants before the city takes the world stage for Super Bowl LIX. Football might be the reason for the influx of guests, but the visitors and locals are hungry for more than Xs and Os. The local restaurants need to offer championship worthy food.

Voleo’s Seafood Restaurant is a second-generation family-run restaurant. Forced to relocate after Hurricane Ida, the business is fledging. It is more than location issues. The food coming out of the kitchen is subpar.

In this exclusive clip, Kitchen Nightmares Voleo’s Seafood Restaurant fails with a flounder dish.

As seen in the clip, dry flounder is a clear issue. Fish that resembled a hockey puck is beyond unappetizing. Dry and fish are two words that do not go together. It shows that the cooks are not paying attention in the kitchen. That dish should never have been served.

With the restaurant being fish focused, the team needs to ensure that every fish dish is on point. Overcooked food is never acceptable. It shows a lack of caring by the staff.

The interesting part of this clip is that the guest did not complain about the flavor. A well-balanced blackened seasoning is hard to achieve. The feedback was not that the seasoning was bland or too salty. If the chefs achieved the correct seasoning, fixing the dry, overcooked fish should be easy.

After re-watching the clip, it is surprising that the owner and chef talked back to Gordon Ramsay. Few people dare question Ramsay’s commentary.

Anyone can be confident when they are right, but Voleo’s chef was in the wrong. The fish was poorly executed. Being stubborn might be part of the issue why Voleo’s Seafood Restaurant is failing. Acknowledging the wrong and fixing the problem is a sign of a good leader.

Can Gordon Ramsay get the Voleo’s team to put their egos aside and find a path to success? Be sure to watch Kitchen Nightmares Voleo’s Seafood Restaurant on Tuesday, January 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX. Episodes can be streamed the next day on Hulu.
