While many people are calling to get another dozen of those Ghostbusters doughnuts before they disappear, another specialty, one day only food item has people running for a taste. The Krispy Kreme Supermoon Super Doughnut is bigger and better than ever. Hungry to take a big bite of this celestial sweetness?
Over the past several years, Krispy Kreme has celebrated various space themed promotions. Whether it was the possibilities of heading to Mars or peering into the darkness of the eclipse, the Red Hot Light channeled the great beyond with special doughnut flavors.
In honor of the October 17 Supermoon, which is set to be biggest supermoon of the year, a new, one day only doughnut will hit the bakery case. Whether people buy one or a dozen, there are plenty of reasons to mark Thursday as doughnut day.
According to Dave Skena, Krispy Kreme Global Chief Brand Office, “This October’s Supermoon is the biggest all year. So, get outside Thursday night and make the view even sweeter by enjoying and sharing out Supermoon Super Doughnuts.”
The special Supermoon Super Doughnut features an unglazed doughnut filled with cookies and Kreme filling. It is dipped in yellow icing. Then, it is swirled with chocolate cookie pieces. The visual might be out of this world, but the flavor is familiar.
Krispy Kreme does a tremendous job of celebrating special moments. While the bigger themed doughnut promotions often get the most fanfare, the one-day, limited edition offerings tend to create FOMO. No one wants to be left out. There might be plenty of time to get those pumpkin doughnuts or even the Golden Harvest ones. Similar to the Supermoon, the 24 hours will be a gone in a blink of an eye.
Will Krispy Kreme offer more celestial inspired doughnuts in the future? Based on the current success, it seems likely. Better look at the calendar for the next space or stellar happening. After all, no one wants to be staring at social media the next day with envy.
