While some people are traveling to be in the path of totality, the Krispy Kreme Total Solar Eclipse Doughnut brings a taste of this scientific phenomenon to everyone. Unlike that 80s song, this total eclipse will have everyone falling in love with sweet flavor.

What are the flavors in the Krispy Kreme Total Solar Eclipse Doughnut?  

According to Krispy Kreme, the Total Solar Eclipse Doughnut dips an Original Glazed Doughnut in black chocolate icing, adds silver sprinkles and pipes OREO buttercream on top. Then, the doughnut is topped with a whole OREO cookie. It is cookies and cream overload.

While the visual nod to the eclipse is clear, it is the flavor that will have people placing an order for a second dozen. The black chocolate icing might be a component that people want to see used again. It should have a richness unlike the traditional chocolate. Maybe this flavor component could make a comeback for Halloween.

Also, it is smart to use OREO cookies in this eclipse themed doughnut. Even though OREO had its own space themed cookies, this option takes the familiar and shows how it can taste a little differently. Even if someone devours this doughnut in less than four minutes, the reality is that the eating experience will leave a sweet memory.

The Krispy Kreme Total Eclipse Doughnut will be available April 5 through April 8. The specialty dozen includes six original glazed and six Total Eclipse Doughnuts. Check with participating stores for availability.
