The Pepsi Challenge returns with some curious timing

Anyone who watches food television shows understands that tasting blind changes a person’s perspective. It is time to put those tastebuds to the test and take the Pepsi Challenge.

Over the past several years, Pepsi has challenged people to think differently about their beverage choice. While the recipe for the classic cola has not changed recently, the concept of “food deserves Pepsi” showcased the beverage’s versatility. Whether enjoyed with pizza, chicken wings, or dessert, there is always a food that is more enjoyable with that Pepsi.

At the same time, many people do not want to switch from the can that they always grab. Whether it is a simple habit or convenience, people need more than a discount or deal to get them to switch their beverage choice.

With the Pepsi Challenge, the beverage brand believes that if people actually take that sip, they will grab the black can time and again. The company is taking its case to a place where red canned cola reigns supreme. Will Atlanta make the beverage switch?

Since the Pepsi Challenge began this year, 100% of participants picked Pepsi Zero Sugar over Coke Zero Sugar in the blind tasting. While each person’s reasoning is different, the results are overwhelmingly clear.

To make their point even more emphatic, Pepsi is bringing the challenge to Atlanta, Coca-Cola’s headquarters. At various events held May 8-12, the Challenge team will be pouring beverages for everyone to sip, sample, and select their favorite.

The idea of a Blind Taste Test is important to showcase how people should think about food and beverages. In this scenario, the beverage is not a chef’s expression of visual storytelling on the plate. The blind tasting allows a person to really discover flavor and pick the one that appeals to their preferences.

The Pepsi Challenge is heading out across the U.S.  Check with PepsiChallenge.com for upcoming events.
