Move over burgers and fries. Chicken is in the spotlight once again and Applebee’s three new hand-breaded chicken sandwiches are on the menu. Plus, bacon sauce lovers have a reason to place an order for one of these sandwiches.

The three new menu items are: Bacon Ranch Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Sweet and Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and Bacon Cheddar Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Each of the sandwiches capture a current food trend. From swicy to ranch, everyone will have a favorite.

According to Chef Shannon Johnson, Head of Culinary at Applebee’s, “Big, bold, juicy – and crispy – these chicken sandwiches are packed with flavor and available in three delicious iterations, sure to satisfy all our guests’ cravings. Plus, if you loved our Whole Lotta Bacon Burger, be sure to try our NEW Bacon Cheddar Crispy Chicken Sandwich to get your tangy bacon sauce fix!”

Looking at the three sandwiches, the Bacon Ranch Crispy Chicken Sandwich might be the winner of the three. Sometimes the classic, simple combination of house-made ranch, bacon, and a crispy chicken cannot be beat.

For guests who want a little extra, the Bacon Cheddar Crispy Chicken Sandwich would be there preference. Anyone who loves that bacon sauce, they can get their flavor fix with this menu item. In addition to that sauce, the sandwich includes the chicken, bacon, cheddar, and toppings on a brioche bun.

Lastly, the Sweet and Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich is Applebee’s take on the swicy food trend. Sweet Asian Chile sauce combined with the coleslaw is quite satisfying. The combination of textures and flavors makes it a bold bite.

The Applebee’s menu additions join many of restaurants that have focused on chicken. From saucy nuggets to smothered sandwiches, it seems that people want that juicy, moist protein boosted with bold flavors and crunchy texture. It might not necessarily be a return of the chicken sandwich wars, but it seems that every restaurant has a menu section dedicated to chicken.

Whether the new food items drive new guests to the table or give fans more options for that meal, it proves that restaurant brands are always looking to invigorate the dining experience. Flavor is and always will be key. Trends might fade after their 15 minutes in the spotlight, but a great dining experience will keep people coming back time and again. When Applebee’s can balance great food with good value, guests will be happy to sit down at the table.

The new Applebee’s hand-breaded chicken sandwiches are available in restaurants now. Check with each location for availability and pricing.
