Everyone knows that M&M’S celebrate the FUNkind for everyone, everywhere. From the table to the field, the simple joy that those colorful candies offer can only be matched by one element, sinking the winning putt. Christopher McDonald, life long golf enthusiast and actor, knows a few things about hitting the links. McDonald joins M&M’S for an epic round of mini-golf that will be full of some spirited dialogue.

M&M’S is no stranger to the sports world. From their infamous Super Bowl commercials to zooming around racetracks, the food brand understands that sports represent the sweeter side of life. Win, lose, or draw, a little treat can make the whole experience more memorable.

Recently, the iconic candy brand partnered with Christopher McDonald for the M&M’S Peanut Butter Championship. Although mini-golf might not require a huge backswing to make an impressive golf shot, McDonald is ready for some spirited conversation on the putting greens. Even though Shooter McGavin might not think of golf as a rock concert, there will be plenty of FUNkind to be had at this mini-golf event.

Prior to the M&M’S Peanut Butter Championship announcement, I had the opportunity to chat with Christoper McDonald about his partnership with M&M’S. While Happy Gilmore fans will always love to hate his role in that film, the talented actor is more than just a single film performance. Still, he never shies away from his Shooter connection with both movie and golf fans.

As McDonald said, “I chose to embrace the role. I think that it’s fun that people love to hate you. It was a great, iconic role for me in a lot of ways. I’m so glad that I finally said yes to it. Once I met Adam, it was a lock because the guy is one of the coolest people that I know and it was such a great experience. It was such a fun character that I embrace, and I cannot walk down the street without someone saying something about Shooter. I love being an ambassador for that.”

Although McDonald admits that the trash talking adds some spirited conversations to playing with friends, those laughs help because golf is a challenge. McDonald said, “it is a hard game. But, when you get that one shot, that one pristine thing where you barely felt the club hit the ball, you know that you will be back. That is the lure of golf and what makes it a fun game.”

With the M&M’S Peanut Butter Championship, one fortunate person will earn the coveted Peanut Butter Jacket. Given the difficulty of the final hole, it will take some skill to sink that epic putt.

While McDonald believes that these golf holes will be very challenging, he is ready to give a big Shooter slap on the back to the winner. Plus, everyone can enjoy some delicious Peanut Butter M&M’S throughout the experience.

McDonald believes that the special mini golf will put golfers’ skills to the test. He said, “I think that it’s tricky. As seen in Happy Gilmore, you saw Chubbs teaching Happy and it was nearly impossible. But, if you put your mind to it, and go to that ‘happy place,’ you can actually score really well. That is the great challenge in the M&M’S Peanut Butter Championship. Maybe someone will beat me, but I doubt it. That is what is so great about mini golf.”

For all the golfers looking to sign that round winning scorecard, McDonald has the following golf advice. “Many golfers that I have admired over the years have said it best. Golf is a five-inch game. It is right between your temples. It is you against the course and that makes it challenging and rewarding.”

While there are many rewards waiting for the winning putt at the M&M’S Peanut Butter Championship, McDonald wants everyone to get out there and enjoy a round. As he said, “don’t be afraid of this game. It might be difficult, but it is so much fun. After a few good shots, you will be back.”

The special M&M’S Peanut Butter Championship will be held at the William Vale Hotel in Brooklyn, New York on August 28 from 2 till 4 p.m. For those not in the area, everyone can join the M&M’S FUNKind experience online via the M&M’S Peanut Butter Championship and Mega Mini Golf Bundle Sweepstakes.
