Erica Levin believes Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars showcased entrepreneurial diversity, interview
Erica Levin and her food business, Globowl, believe that building a well-rounded palate can be nurtured at a young age. On Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars, the tenacious businesswoman found that FOX show’s entrepreneurial diversity proved valuable both in and out of the competition.
After the Season 2 finale aired, Erica Levin graciously spoke to me about her experience on Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars and the future of her business, Globowl. Making it to the final five, Erica appreciates that the experience was a unique opportunity not only to get exposure to Gordon Ramsay, Lisa Vanderpump, and the FOX audience, but it served as a way to prove her business acumen across a variety of tasks.
Given that Season 2 brought together entrepreneurs who were just starting their journey and others who had proven themselves, Erica shared her thoughts on this entrepreneurial diversity. She explained, “diversity of thought, stage, of anything in the business world is great. We all learned from each other.”
Each of the tasks challenged different business acumen. From newer social media strategies to appreciating profit strategies, the goal was to prove that these entrepreneurs were the total package.
Even though there were roles for all the contestants, the leadership role often took the heat. Erica believes that that position was not the only place where the contestants could lead. Given that she has the business experience, Erica believes that everyone had “mutual respect” for everyone involved in the process. Everyone was “up for the challenge and deserved to be there.” Additionally, she formed long lasting relationships with her fellow contestants.
With Season 2, Lisa Vanderpump joined the series. Given Vanderpump’s success, I asked if Erica thought it was important for the women contestants, and viewers, to see a strong, powerful, businesswoman at the head of the table. Was it a scenario where women's success can breed other women's success?
Erica said, “three out of the five finalists were women. We had a super powerhouse businesswoman in Lisa Vanderpump mentoring us. There was a lot of camaraderie in the show and that has continued with support after the show.”
While there was give and take, it was still a competition. Erica did not have a specific game plan to make it to the finale. As she explained, “I didn’t go in with any sort of preparation because I don’t think that you could. Everything was a surprise.”
Even thought she could have assumed types of challenges, it was clear that Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars Season 2 was different from Season 1. And, these entrepreneurs stepped up their game each and every time.
Erica Levin believes that Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars opportunity is beneficial for Globowl.
Although she did not obtain the title, Erica Levin believes that Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars is a win for her and her business. As she mentioned, “being on this show, this platform, is exposure that is a huge opportunity for any business. There is a longevity of being in people’s home for the season and beyond with the streaming platforms.”
Erica shared, “my hope is to showcase the goal of our company, which is to help usher in a new generation of healthy eating. To get kids excited about food, avoid texture aversion, and help educate on food allergies.”
For those unfamiliar with Globowl, Erica explained the company this way. “I think that every parent fears having a picky eater. If there is a way that you can address it, influence the way that they eat for the rest of their lives, Globowl wants to be part of that conversation.”
The food brand continues to grow and expand its concept. From working with brand ambassadors to securing prime space in the premium organic market, it is resonating with the community and building a loyal following.
Given that kids have a flavor window between four and 18 months, this early introduction sets them on a path to be more willing to try and eat a variety of food choices. It is almost like awakening those tastebuds so that they can grow and develop, just like the child themselves.
Whether the brand appeals to the food adventurous consumer, the family who has a concern about food allergies, or just someone who wants to serve their child tasty food, Globowl fits into a variety of scenarios. The potential for growth is tremendous.
What is next for Erica Levin and her brand, Globowl? In addition to potential collaborations with her fellow Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars entrepreneurs, there is plenty of growth potential for her business. Whether or not she becomes the modern “g” food brand for kids remains to be seen. But, the Globowl mission is driven by great flavor, and that fact will bring people to the table.
