While the classic agave spirit is equally delightful sipped simply or shaken into a cocktail, flavored tequilas are not as common. Hornitos Tequila takes a bold step into this untapped market with three new liquors that will change how people sip that Mexican liquor.

Flavored liquors have become more common in both the vodka and whiskey market. Infusing those spirits with citrus, spices, and even sweeter flavors, like peanut butter and chocolate, are common. While these spirits make for creative cocktails, they are equally enjoyed simply or even on their own.

In the tequila market, most tequilas are just blanco, reposado, and anejo. While there are some jalapeno or chipotle infused liquors, other flavors are not as common. Hornitos is stepping into the market with three options.

The new Hornitos tequilas are: Cucumber Habanero, Lime, and soon to be released Vanilla Honey. First and foremost, the lime is a logical choice. For the drinker who prefers a skinny margarita, this option with some seltzer water brings that bright citrus flavor without becoming overly cloying.

Additionally, it could work in a variety of other cocktails. Wherever a punch of citrus could enliven the flavor, the Hornitos Lime would work.

The more curious combination is Hornitos Cucumber Habanero. While spice and tequila are a common combination, the use of cucumber is quite interesting. It is not too herbaceous, but it helps to keep the spice from becoming overpowering.

This flavor has much versatility. For example, it would really pop in a paloma. It would balance the tartness of the grapefruit and add some heat. Many people will want to experiment with this flavor.

Lastly, the Hornitos Vanilla Honey is the most surprising of the three flavors. While vanilla is a flavor often found in an aged tequila, this flavor combination could inspire some curious cocktails. For example, the Vanilla Honey with some Nixta, bitters, and a splash of soda would be a cozy, comforting cocktail.

With the holiday season ahead, the new Vanilla Honey might become the must have spirit or foundation for a signature holiday cocktail.

The Hornitos Vanilla Honey will launch in October. The other two flavored Hornitos tequilas are available now.
