Flavor innovation takes another road trip thanks to Frito-Lay. With the new Lay's Global Flavors lineup, that wanderlust craving can be satisfied by just opening the bag.

Over the years, Lay’s and Frito-Lay have pushed the envelope with bold, innovative, and culturally relevant flavors. Just a few years ago, spicy Asian inspired seasonings took the shelf by storm. Today, swicy, briny, and a myriad of other offerings fill the shelf.

With the latest Lay’s launch, the Global Flavors lineup, the Frito-Lay snack brand is inspired by travel to some of the most sought out locales. The flavors are Lay’s Wavy Tzatziki, Lay’s Masala and Lay’s Honey Butter.

Speaking about the new chip flavors, Tina Mahal, senior vice president of marketing, PepsiCo Foods North America said, “Our fans often post about the fun flavors they see while traveling abroad and continuously ask for them here. Now, at the height of travel season, we're excited to make those dreams a reality and bring them adventure through every bite of our Global Flavors lineup. As the proven leader in flavor innovation with more than 200 variations of our iconic potato chip, we're proud to continue to demonstrate our expertise in crafting delicious flavors that appeal to the unique senses and tastes of communities all over the world."

Which of the three Lay’s Global Flavors lineup is a must try?

While many people carefully sneak a bag of Ketchup chips from across the border or long to find some hidden gem in an European supermarket, the Lay’s Global Flavors lineup do not require a fun-filled pass through the TSA. These three flavors, Lay’s Wavy Tzatziki, Lay’s Masala and Lay’s Honey Butter, bring authentic flavors to the snack aisle and it is definitely worth searching for a bag.

After having an opportunity to try all three flavors, the Honey Butter is probably the most surprising. Far from a dessert chip, the unctuous notes come through with the sweetness. Just like butter on popcorn makes it more appealing, the honey butter on the chip might make you rethink your baked potato topping.

While this flavor is a Korean favorite, it is the perfect backdrop to a snack mix. For example, add the chips into some salty notes to highlight the sweetness. Or, consider adding these chips to a burger with some gochujang for a swicy take.

The most robust flavor is the Lay’s Wavy Tzatziki. While many people love a Wavy Lay’s paired with some dip, the chip’s texture makes it hold the flavor well. Although not quite as pungent as dipping chips into tzatziki, the traditional flavor comes through in every bite. For the person who likes dill but prefers to avoid the pickle trap, this citrus, zesty combination is a great alternative.

Lastly, the Lay’s Masala highlights the various spices. Although no one is really parsing the cumin, turmeric, and pepper, the chip feels warm, comforting, even though some people see it as exotic. It is a nod to traditional Masala but it does feel authentic. For someone who may not appreciate that dish on a menu, these chips might open their mind to the food.

The Lay’s Global Flavors will be available in stores and on Snacks.com for a limited time. Check with retailers for pricing and availability.
