Move over two all beef patties, McDonald’s Chicken Big Mac is here
For almost 60 years, the Big Mac has been a McDonald’s menu staple. As the jingle says, two all beef patties, special sauce and more combine to create the ultimate fast food. Now, the icon has been transformed. Ready for the first bite of McDonald’s Chicken Big Mac?
Few restaurants have a menu item that is synonymous with their brand. The Big Mac is that item for McDonald’s. Although other quick service restaurants have their signature food, no one dares to directly imitate the original.
While the Big Mac will always been part of the menu, McDonald’s appreciates that it needs to be aware of food trends. As seen over the recent years, chicken wars have taken over the QSR table. From swicy to saucy, everyone has served their poultry take.
McDonald’s is the first restaurant to take one an iconic menu item and give it a chicken swap. Forget the value meal wars, this concept might be the biggest quick service restaurant trend. Familiar combined with innovation gets people talking.
According to Tariq Hassan, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at McDonald’s USA, “With the introduction of the Chicken Big Mac, we’re excited to pay homage to one of our most iconic menu items, the Big Mac, and introduce it to a whole new generation of fans. By tapping into some of our fans’ biggest passions from dupe culture to live-streaming, we’re able to serve up more than just a sandwich. There truly is something for everyone to enjoy in this campaign and we’re bringing experiences that will surprise and delight them, all before the Chicken Big Mac hits restaurants.”
The Chicken Big Mac hits restaurants menus on October 10. For some lucky guests at the recent Chain event, they received a preview of the offering at “McDonnell’s.” That “dupe” was more than just a little chef creativity. It was a preview.
The idea of a Chicken Big Mac is smart. Even though the sandwich is quite hearty, with two chicken patties, the idea makes sense. Lettuce, cheese, pickles, and special sauce work well with the classic chicken patties. Plus, there does not seem to be a double chicken sandwich on the market elsewhere.
While many people will want to try this new Big Mac offering, one question is left unanswered. Could “special sauce” be the new chicken nugget dipping sauce? If the flavor works well on a sandwich, why couldn’t it be served with McNuggets? Maybe if fans are loud enough, this option could make the menu, too.
Hungry for the first bite of the Chicken Big Mac? Head to a participating restaurant starting on October 10. Don’t be the only one left out of the food experience.
