McDonald’s Collector’s Meal is a welcome blast from the past

While some social media users might only have seen the iconic McDonald’s glasses at an antique shop, the Golden Arches is stepping back in time to embrace a full nostalgic moment. The McDonald’s Collector’s Meal will become the must order item of the summer.

For many people, ordering that McDonald’s Happy Meal is just as much about the bonus item as it is about those McNuggets and World Famous Fries. Who hasn’t put that special figurine on their desk or shelf? Getting that one elusive collectible was often the mission of the summer.

Recently, McDonald’s has shown that this special meal does not have an age limit. From the McNugget Buddies to other “adult Happy Meals,” the reality is that having fun with food is an all-ages proposition.

The new McDonald’s Collector’s Meal celebrates iconic brands in a way that rooted in nostalgic. Long before there were toys, McDonald’s glasses were the ultimate collectible.

We're bringing back some of our most-loved keepsakes with a twist, giving fans a memory that they can hold in their hands. These new collectible cups commemorate some of our most unforgettable designs and global collaborations over the years, allowing longtime fans to relive treasured moments and helping a new generation make their own lasting memories."

The glasses include: McDonald’s, Barbie, Beanie Babies, Coca-Cola, Hello Kitty and Peanuts, Shrek, Jurassic Park, and Minions. While everyone will have their favorite one or their highly coveted option, some items seem like they will become fan favorites.

Given the success of the Grimace Shake, the Grimace Glass will be a popular choice. The Golden Arches Bear might be one that people might not remember. The person who can create the whole set might earn their 15-minutes of fame.

Bringing back the collective glasses is smart for McDonald’s. Even though value meals seem to be part of the daily news cycle, value is more than dollars and cents. Connecting with a guest, building a loyal fan base, comes by keeping that brand front and center in a person’s mind. Having that cup on the table at breakfast, lunch, and dinner is part of that value. It is a smart move for McDonald’s.

McDonald’s Collector’s Meal is a first for the quick service restaurant.

While McDonald’s Happy Meal has been a staple, but it is not a breakfast option. The new Collector’s Meals are available at breakfast.

The Breakfast option includes: Sausage McMuffin with Egg sandwich, Hash Brown and Hot Coffee during breakfast hours. This addition shows that this new menu item is for all ages. While the special glass might not be best for coffee, it would be perfect for some OJ.

Adding the breakfast meal choice could spark a bigger conversation for the quick service restaurant. Could a breakfast Happy Meal be coming in the future? Although coffee and kids might not necessarily be the best combination, the drink could easily be swapped for milk or juice. It might make that early morning soccer game a lot more palatable.
