Easily transform that iconic PB&J flavor into the ultimate adult dessert
For many people, the simple, classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich is the perfect bite. It is time to take that PB&J flavor in different direction with this adult frozen dessert. With this scoop, there is no sharing with the under 21 crowd.
Adult ice creams have become a popular twist on a classic frozen dessert. From successful food brands that have partnered with beer and liquor companies to the home mixologist who blended their own version of a spirited milkshake, adding a little “kick” to the simple scoop is more than just the buzz achieved with an empty bowl. The shot of flavor has an added appeal.
The idea of giving a little boost, shot, or heaping pour of liquor to a frozen dessert is an idea that has grown in popularity. From restaurants to cruise ships, that little extra hits a food trend that people continue to want, nostalgia with a side of fun. All ages love a pinata burrow straw on their glass and adults appreciate the little extra that hopefully will not leave them leaning to the “borracho” side.
Still, the idea of an adult PB&J frozen dessert has its appeal. Luckily, Skrewball shared a special recipe using the Ninja CREAMI. This delicious idea might be the hit of the summer.
Skrewball PB&J Whiskey Ice Cream
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons powdered peanut butter
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons Skrewball™ Peanut Butter Whiskey
1 cup whole milk
3/4 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup peanut butter cookies, cut in 1/2-inch pieces
2 frozen strawberries
Directions:
In medium sized bowl, combine the powdered peanut butter, sugar, vanilla, and whiskey until mixture is smooth. Add milk and whisk until sugar is dissolved, then slowly pour in heavy cream and mix until combined.
Pour base into an empty CREAMi™ pint. Place storage lid on pint and freeze for 24 hours.
Remove pint from freezer and remove lid from pint. Place pint in outer bowl, install Creamerizer™ Paddle onto outer bowl lid, and lock the lid assembly on the outer bowl. Place bowl assembly on motor base and twist the handle right to raise the platform and lock in place.
Select ICE CREAM.
With a spoon, create a 1 1/2-inch-wide hole that reaches the bottom of the pint. Add the cookie pieces and the frozen strawberries to the hole in the pint and process again using the MIX-IN program.
When processing is complete, portion ice cream as desired and serve immediately.
While this Skrewball recipe uses the Ninja CREAMI, the recipe can be adapted for other options. Overall, the idea can inspire a new way at looking at those PB&J flavors. Instead of worrying about crusts or no crusts on a sandwich, it
