Popeyes adds a new flavor to its chicken wing lineup
After a hugely successful launch, Popeyes is expanding its chicken wing flavor lineup. The new honey lemon pepper flavor is perfect for spring time gatherings. The creative take on a classic flavor will have people running to get that first taste.
Certain flavors are traditional in the chicken wing world. Buffalo might be the spicy option and barbecue can be a sweeter choice. When people gravitate toward approachable heat, lemon pepper is a popular option.
While that savory, citrus note with a hint of heat is enjoyable, it was missing a flavor component, sweet. The new Honey Lemon Pepper flavor hits all the tastebuds. That drizzle of sweetness heightens the citrus notes and slightly tempers the pepper. It makes the flavor quite approachable.
Speaking to this new offering, Amy Alarcon, Vice President of Culinary Innovation at Popeyes said, “We’re on a mission to continue transforming the wing game and elevate the wing flavors consumers know and love in a way only Popeyes can. By introducing Honey Lemon Pepper Wings, we’re doing more than expanding our menu; we’re inviting our guests to rethink what they know about great wings. It’s a bold move, sure. But, bold is what we do best.”
As part of the Popeyes Honey Lemon Pepper chicken wings flavor launch, the brand encourages guests to break up with their old favorite flavor. While there are many jokes about “taking a break,” enjoying a new taste is never a bad thing. Sometimes that bold, bright note can offer a new perspective.
Looking across the other wing options at quick service restaurants and even fast casual restaurants, this ingredient combination is not available. It makes Popeyes unique and it will be curious to see if another food brand follows their lead. In addition, the new food option could have some people switching to Popeyes because of the unique offering.
The Popeyes Honey Lemon Pepper wings will launch on March 19 exclusively via the app or via online orders. On April 1, the new flavor will be available to order in restaurants.
