While the vibrant 1969 Palm Beach world looks enticing, Palm Royale has more twists and turns that keep everyone guessing. In honor of the ladies who lunch or the high society maven who never turns down a great libation, it is time to sip on a retro gin cocktail, just like the ladies in the show.

From the deceptively potent Grasshopper to a filthy martini, these classic cocktails deserve a moment in the spotlight. Although no one has to break out the caftan or wear a carefully coiffed scarf, the step back to a cocktail that is relatively simple has some merit. Long before people fat washed spirits or smoked ice, cocktails consisted of a few ingredients and people were happy to enjoy them.

Tanqueray has shared three retro gin cocktails that would be a perfect choice for the ladies of Palm Royale. While the sweet, seductive, and slightly surprising Grasshopper can quickly sneak up on people, these cocktails are meant to be enjoyed slowly, appreciate a moment to linger, or ponder that next move for social climbing.

Palm Royale inspired retro gin cocktails get a glow up.

Anyone who has watched the first couple of Palm Royale episodes might want to try the infamous Grasshopper cocktail. While this sweet sip has been featured in Big Bang Theory, the curious color has people jumping to take another glance. Even if the sweet taste seems unassuming, one too many could have someone saying the wrong thing. But, for the person who prefers to sip their dessert, a Grasshopper is a tasty choice.

Maxine’s Grasshopper

Ingredients:

  • 5 oz Tanqueray London Dry gin
  • .5 oz White Crème de Menthe
  • .5 oz White Crème de Cacao
  • 1 oz Heavy Cream

Garnish: Mint Sprig

Glassware: Coupe

Method:

  • Build ingredients into an ice-filled mixing glass. Stir with a bar spoon and strain into chilled coupe glass. Garnish with mint sprig.

Although James Bond might have his preferred martini, the classic gin cocktail can get a little dirty. The added olive brine might make the appearance a little cloudy, but the salty flavor can have people wanting to keep sipping. Hopefully, drinking one does not lead to any choices that does a person dirty.
