Sodexo Live sends off the Eras Tour with a bounty of treats for all the hungry Swifties
As the Eras Tour comes to a close, Sodexo Live is ready to serve all the hungry Swifties at BC Place. Over the past several years, the hospitality giant has created various Taylor Swift inspired treats during stops in Miami, New Orleans, Indianapolis, and now Vancouver. It has been a labor of love for the culinary team to bring a wide array of delicious food and beverages to all the guests.
With Taylor Swift ending the epic Eras Your in Vancouver this weekend, everyone wants to savor those final moments. Beyond the friendship bracelets, special outfits and dancing the night away, each event was a blending of cultures. From the audience to the food and beverages offered in the stands, it was an epic event that will not soon be matched.
Recently, Sodexo Live and Carmen Callo, Senior Vice President, Culinary shared some thoughts on the phenomenon. Given that the hospitality brand has been part of many tour stops, the company has tremendous insight on the fans craving for themed food and beverages.
Creating these special menus is not a small undertaking. Callo explained, “As with all of the events we host throughout the year, we always add some bespoke items to add another element to the fan experience. For the upcoming Eras Tour, we decided to tap into the Swifties themselves to help us get creative with the names for the menu items. We have some Swifties within our Sodexo Live! team, so we included them, and then we invited a few friends and family who have either already been to the Eras Tour or who plan to attend one of the upcoming shows. All in all, we probably had around 20 people share their ideas which we then cut down to a select few. A menu for the people, by the people.”
While Sodexo Live is no stranger to huge events, the hospitality brand found that being part of the Eras Tour is a huge undertaking. Even if that weekly football game has its struggles, this gigantic event is as big as any end of season game.
Callo commented, “We’re no stranger to serving major events, but an added layer with concerts is estimating food and drink sales based on each concert demographic. With the Eras Tour, for example, we have studied the Swiftonomics… and so we know we’ll serve more mocktails and soft drinks with the crowd, as it consists of lots of kids and families than we might have at other concerts.”
“For a three-day Eras Tour weekend, it truly is similar to hosting three Super Bowls in one weekend. We’ve got the experience though… this February will be our 16th Super Bowl and we host an annual calendar of marquee global events in our venues… from Formula One to the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, Beyonce, Ed Sheeran and so much more.”
The gigantic food undertaking does not end when the guests leave the stadium, Sodexo Live team gives back to the local community. Like many of its other events, the company repurposes any unused food.
Callo explained, “If we overestimate with any menu items, we work with local organizations at each of our venues to rescue the prepared but unused food immediately after the event to donate to local shelters for community members in need.”
At BC Place, the last stop of the Eras Tour, Sodexo Live is offering a wide array of food items. Choices include Tay-ter Tots, Twisted Pretzel Dept, Go Viral Love Spiral beverage, Charcoal Deluxe Burger, Chx Tenders with Seemingly Ranch, Chai Sugar Cookie, and specialty cupcakes.
As the names suggest, there are fun plays that all Swifties will appreciate. More importantly, the flavor will impress even the person who doesn’t know why 13 is important.
What is next for Sodexo Live? Another epic event is on the horizon and the hospitality brand will be ready to serve all the delicious food to fans in the stands.
