Subway fans know that the brand’s signature footlong sub is always a great deal. The newest offering takes a favorite snack, Doritos, and turns it into an epic meal.
In the quick service restaurant world, brands are continually looking for ways to entice another guest visit. From value meals to new menu items, the blend of favorites and innovation is key for guest engagement.
Recently, Subway has been transforming the footlong in various ways. From cookies to pretzels, the bigger snack at a good price has customers adding extra food to their order.
The newest QSR offering partners with a popular snack brand, Doritos. In a way, it is a gigantic walking taco that is fully customized.
As Paul Fabre, Senior Vice President, Culinary and Innovation at Subway explained, “Subway’s newest partnership takes everything our fans love about Subway sandwiches – from quality veggies, proteins and tasty toppings – to the next level with the cheesy flavor and iconic crunch of Doritos. Whether you’re in the mood for a snack, pairing them with your favorite sub or sharing with friends, Subway and Doritos are serving up even more flavor in every satisfying bite.

Ready to enjoy Doritos Footlong Nachos?
The Doritos Footlong Nachos is a simple, yet tasty idea. The footlong starts with Doritos Nacho Cheese chips.
From that foundation, the chips are topped with cheddar cheese sauce and Monterey cheddar cheese. Guests can add jalapeno sliced, diced tomatoes and red onion. Additionally, the nachos are drizzled with the Baja Chipotle sauce.
Guests can top the nachos with rotisserie-style chicken or steak. These protein additions are included, but smashed avocado is an extra cost.
Subway wants to give its MVP Rewards members an opportunity to try the new nachos for free. On April 10, members can receive a free Doritos Footlong Nachos with the purchase of any sub. The offer can be redeemed in restaurant, via the app, or online.
Adding these nachos to the menu is a smart move for both Subway and Doritos. Given that “snacking” continues to be an alternative to a meal, it fills that gap in the QSR menu. Guests might not run into a restaurant to grab a bag of chips, but they will stop for a serving of nachos.
Although this offering is just with the Nacho Cheese flavor, Doritos fans might ask for an expansion into Cool Ranch or other flavors. Given that the snack brand has a robust line-up, the possibilities are many.
Leveraging Subway’s partnership with PepsiCo allows them to stand out in the QSR space. The Doritos Nachos could be just the start. Maybe there is a way to bring some Cheetos toppings to that footlong sub.
The Doritos Footlong Nachos are available for a limited time. The cost is $5. Check with restaurants for availability.
