The SLC Scoop from Van Leeuwen is a taste of all the sweet RHOSLC drama
After last season’s drama of receipts and timelines, the ladies of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City could use some sweetness. Van Leeuwen is ready to bring some drama free deliciousness with The SLC Scoop. Hungry to dig into this new food offering?
For many Bravo fans, watching The Real Housewives series is a sweet diversion. Although the days of flipping tables might be over, the dynamic interpersonal relationships are always complicated. Even if some of the ladies try to find peace at the table, the detente can be short-lived.
Last season saw the Salt Lake City ladies have a huge story unfold. The idea that a fellow cast mate would purposely and publicly plot against the others was unheard of. Of course, everyone is vying for a coveted seat at the Reunion, but it is more than gaining favor with Andy Cohen. Last season had RHOSLC earning infamy in the Bravo universe.
With Season 5 unfolding with new storylines, the ladies are still feisty. From commentary on fashion choices to new friendships blooming, the reality is that things can still be frosty amongst these ladies. The season might have started with “besos,” but maybe a dessert could help melt the chill.
To give Bravo fans a new treat to enjoy, NBCUniversal and Van Leeuwin partnered on a special release, The SLC Scoop. The specialty ice cream will be available nationwide starting on November 19.
Speaking about this partnership, Harriet Hubball, Senior Vice President, Brand Marketing and Media, NBCUniversal said, “‘The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’ has been serving lighthearted humor and delicious drama to Bravo for years and we wanted to give our fans the perfect treat to pair with season five. Partnering with Van Leeuwen allows us to bring a taste of the series to life with a unique ice cream flavor as sweet and salty as the RHOSLC housewives.”
The SLC Scoop flavor combines Salt, Lavender and Caramel. While the pint’s container is a nice nod to lavender (similar to the ladies’ looks on the RHOSLC title), the use of the floral flavor is interesting. Lavendar is generally meant to bring some relaxation or calmness. There have been neither sentiments in RHOSLC Season 5.
The combination of salt and caramel is classic. While salty and sweet is well balanced, it is also a commentary on how people can be both sides. One minute someone can be all sugar yet turn with a cutting, salty comment.
This type of food collaboration has become more common across the NBCUniversal properties. BravoCon leveraged the idea with Wendy’s, Frito-Lay, and other brand partnerships. Shop the episode has become quite popular. Even product placement has been used on episodes.
For fans of both the programs and the food, the cross over is smart. People long for a taste of their favorite pop culture moments. Whether it is being able to enjoy a scoop of ice cream or booking a Holland America cruise, there are plenty of ways to bring the on screen moments into the real world.
Hungry for a bowl of The SLC Scoop? The limited edition Van Leeuwen and RHOSLC flavor is available starting on November 19. Hopefully, it will make an appearance in Miami at the special Bravo event, too.
