What Whataburger menu items kick off the 75th anniversary celebration?
Kicking off 2025, Whataburger is bringing back two food items from its Legends Menu and introducing two new items. The returning items are Monterey Melt and Chicken Fajita Taco. The new items are Mexican Hot Chocolate Coffee and Mexican Hot Chocolate Shake. All items will hit restaurants starting on January 7.
The Monterey Melt has a legendary following. While it has not been on the menu for several years, Whataburger lovers can still remember that taste. They have asked, begged, and cajoled the powers that be to get it back. Luckily, the Whataburger team listened.
For those people who have not had the pleasure of eating a Monterey Melt, the flavor is cheesy, spicy, and extra meaty. Two beef patties are topped with melted Monterey Jack and American cheese. Then, grilled onions, peppers, and the tangy Jalapeno Ranch finish the dish. It is the ultimate bite for people who crave big flavor.
The other returning menu item is the Chicken Fajita Taco. While it is served at a quick service restaurant, it feels more like a higher restaurant quality meal. The white breast meat is combined with seared onions, poblano peppers, and red peppers. Then, those ingredients are topped with Monterey Jack cheese, grilled jalapeños, and fresh avocado.
It is the little touches that make the Chicken Fajita Taco delicious. Yes, grilled jalapenos really make a flavor difference and kudos to Whataburger for choosing to make that effort.
The new menu items for 2025 are the Mexican Hot Chocolate Coffee and Mexican Hot Chocolate Shake. These two food items continue the spicy trend. That balance of sweet and heat is quite delicious.
