Every May, ladies discover the beauty of hat culture. Wisconsin Cheese has long celebrated a different type of flavorful culture that infuses its offerings in flavorful and creative ways. This year, the cheese experts partnered with milliner Christine A. Moore to create fantastical fromaginators that will impress food fashionistas.

The Kentucky Derby might be the fastest two minutes in sports, but the fashion surrounding the event lasts far longer. While the men might look dapper, it is the ladies with their impressive hats who make the biggest impression.

This year, Wisconsin Cheese collaborated with popular Kentucky Derby milliner, Christine A. Moore, to offer fromaginators. These cheese inspired pieces will be the talk of any event. Whether people choose to compliment that headpiece with matching cheeses or prefer contrasting flavor pairings, everyone will want a taste of this conversation.

Speaking about her inspiration for these creations, Moore said, “Creating a collection of Wisconsin Cheese Fromaginators for the Kentucky Derby sent my imagination soaring—it’s a true fusion of fashion and flavor. What an honor to spotlight Wisconsin’s incredible farmers and cheesemakers. I was especially inspired by the beautiful and unique rinds—they’re works of art, and taste as amazing as they look.”

While the designs are impressive, it is a celebration of the craft and creativity of the Wisconsin cheese artisans. As Suzanne Fanning, Chief Marketing Officer at Wisconsin Cheese explained, “As cheese experts, we know a thing or two about high-quality pairings. The Kentucky Derby and Wisconsin Cheese are both cultural icons, known for tradition and excellence. We created this collection for both Derby fans and cheese lovers, so anyone—at the track or at home—can celebrate in style with a Fromaginator of their own.”

The Rines and Roses special collection has several offerings. Available in three colorways, Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Oaks, and Natural, each one celebrates six different Wisconsin cheeses.

Thinking about this concept, it is a lovely way to bring some fun to food culture. Designers have created candy dresses, but a hat seems the perfect plate for cheese couture. After all, food fashion should be fun, or cheesy. Infusing a favorite food into that look not only says something about the person wearing the piece but also sparks a conversation with others.

Could fromaginators become the must have item for the next bridal shower, Mother’s Day event, or brunch? Why not? In a world where food is the common connector, it can be the way for people to express themselves in the most delicious way.

The Rinds and Roses Collection goes on sale April 11, 2025. Prices range from $1,500 to $3,000. More information can be found at WisconsinCheese.com/RindsAndRosesCollection.
