The next stop along our wine pairing is the Grenache-Syrah-Mourvedre (GSM). This is a red wine blend that originates from the Rhone region of France, but is also gaining popularity in the Southern part of Australia. French GSM’s tend to be more savory and bring less of a fruity aspect than their Australian counterparts.

This is a medium bodied wine. Most of the time you will find GSM’s to have earthy and meaty aromas and you may even get hints of a cigar box as well. The Australian version will bring chocolate and berries to the table.
This wine tends to be on the bigger side so treat your meal pairings the same way; big full flavors. You could even use similar pairings that would come with a Cabernet Sauvingnon. Red meats and game will go well with the GSM. Also, mushroom and pepper sauces will work well.
Most seafood will not work with this wine, but a Tuna or maybe even a Salmon with a rich sauce could go well with this wine.
Mild meats such as chicken, turkey and pork should be stayed away from as well.
Because of the acidity that comes along with this wine, citrus and cream sauces should be limited and not used for the best meal possible.
