The final baseball contest of the year is here. Only one team will lift the World Series trophy. While the Dodgers versus the Astros battle on the baseball diamond, baseball fans are true to their favorite pizza toppings. Which pizza topping is wins with baseball fans?
According to our friends at Slice, Dodgers and Astros fans’ favorite pizza toppings are as different as the two baseball teams. Occasionally, classic, favorite pizza toppings, like pepperoni, crossover between fans. But in this hotly contested battle, the fans’ preferences are quite different.

Slice says that Dodgers fans’ favorite pizza toppings are mushrooms, sausage and pineapple (listed in order preference). As a California team, the mushrooms seem like a logical choice. Mushrooms offer a lot of flavor. Also, mushrooms are a perfect choice for vegetarians.
The unlikely preference for pineapple is quite confusing. Personally, I’m not a fan of pineapple on a pizza. Some people like the Canadian bacon and pineapple combination on a pizza. But, that flavor combination of sweet pineapple with a tomato based sauce and a mozzarella cheese is not for me. If it was a dessert pizza with Nutella and other fruit, I’m ok with pineapple. Still, the Dodgers’ fans seem to be less traditional with their pizza topping preferences.

As for the Astros fans, their pizza topping preferences focus on the classics. In order of preference, Astros fans prefer pepperoni, white crust and extra cheese. Pepperoni is said to the most popular pizza topping. Young, old, men and women gravitate to the classic pepperoni.

The extra cheese option is always a wise choice. Can you ever have too much cheese on a pizza? The melted, gooey cheese that covers the crisp crust is a drool worthy Instagram post. Even if part of the cheese falls off the crust, it is still a delicious bonus bite. You can never have enough cheese on a pizza.
While the World Series will play out on the baseball diamond, the pizza topping battle shows fans have a clear winning in each of their cities. These baseball fans are either traditionalists or modernists. But, will pizza toppings have an influence in the final World Series outcome?
