Movies and popcorn go hand in hand. You almost can’t watch a movie without enjoying a bowl of popcorn, it just doesn’t feel right. But sometimes you want to mix it up with another treat, and we’re here to help these movie snacks ideas!

Want to watch a movie but don’t have popcorn available? Or perhaps you simply want to spice things up for your next movie. Maybe even impress your guest (or date) with new movie snacks if you are inviting friends over for a movie night in.

Here are five best movie companions other than popcorn to try out next time!

Trail Mix: You can’t go wrong with a good trail mix. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, the whole deal! Try adding salty chips to plate, it’s a delicious, and fancy, combination.

Chocolate: Who doesn’t love chocolate? The only downside to offering only chocolate is that it may become too sweet, so have something on the sour side available to balance it out.

Chips and Salsa: This small appetizer isn’t only great as a kick-starter to a great meal, it’s also delicious to enjoy alongside a good movie.

Pretzels: Even better than pretzels? Kolaches! These aren’t only for breakfast time. They taste and smell wonderful at any time.

Guacamole: It’s a bit of a mess to create, but it’s not complicated. All you need are avocados (I suggest 3-4), one lime, salt, diced tomatoes onions, and jalapenos (onions and jalapenos are optional), and cilantro! Guacamole isn’t everyone’s favorite though (crazy, right?), but that’s why it’s also good to have chips and salsa handy.

Bonus: Nothing sounds as amazing as the traditional popcorn? Try mixing M&Ms and popcorn together in the same bowl.
