Opening Day is almost here. Dairy Queen rings in the baseball season with its new Triple Play Blizzard. Don’t whiff on the opportunity to try one.
What’s the favorite foods on Opening Day? The song might say peanuts and cracker jacks, but this year baseball fans might be heading to Dairy Queen. Just for opening day, DQ is offering the Triple Play Blizzard in select stores.

On March 29, all 30 teams will begin the baseball season. To celebrate this momentous occasion, Dairy Queen wanted to offer a special treat. This special treat is the Triple Play Blizzard. According to Maria Hokanson, Executive Vice President of Marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ), “our Blizzard Treat innovation team has combined sweet and savory tastes that will bring back memories of baseball and ballparks, whether you still play, played as kid or tagged along as a younger or older sibling to practices and games.”
This special limited time Blizzard combines favorite ballpark flavors with classic DQ soft serve. The Blizzard features “caramel coated peanuts, caramel popcorn brittle and choco chunks” and is “topped with crunchy pretzel rods and choco drizzled caramel popcorn.” It has some of the iconic ballpark favorite treats. The combination of flavors offers a perfect balance of salty and sweet.

Based on the description, this special Blizzard definitely sounds like a huge hit. The flavor is sweet enough to appeal to younger fans while the combination of textures appeals to the older crowd. Even non-baseball fans will find this frozen treat appealing. Maybe Dairy Queen will consider expanding the release beyond the Opening Day promotion.
