Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 8 has the 10 remaining chefs looking to impress a very discerning guest. Is Chef Ramsay’s daughter even more discerning than her dad?

Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 8 returns as a two-week hiatus. While everyone was indulging in holiday favorite foods, Hell’s Kitchen fans had to catch up on previously aired Season 18 episodes. Now that the culinary competition is back on, the chefs might wish for a little less heat in the kitchen. This week’s special guest could be the most difficult yet.

According to FOX, this week’s Hell’s Kitchen episode, “One Hell of a Party” features the following:

"The final 10 chefs are surprised when Ramsay brings in his daughter to celebrate her Sweet 16; each chef must create a worthy dish to be served at her party; a dinner service; an elimination."

While Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 has had some difficult challenges, this particular challenge could have the chefs running scared. Impressing another chef with some innovative, flavorful dish is in these chefs wheel house. Creating a dish that impresses a 16 year old girl could really test the chefs’ skills.

Thinking about a Sweet 16 birthday party, the food could be almost anything. Truthfully, some kids enjoy fine dining but the majority of kids will want something familiar. Still, that familiar dish needs to be executed with exacting precision. Undercooked pasta, raw proteins or another technique error will certainly face Chef Ramsay’s wrath.

The chef who can find a way to balance innovation, food trends and flavor could have an advantage in this challenge. Personally, I would bet on the women’s team in the “worthy dish” challenge. I think that the women chefs listen well and seem to adapt better. If they can listen to Chef Ramsay’s daughter’s likes and dislikes and apply those qualities to a dish, the women will come out ahead.

Of course, Hell’s Kitchen is part cooking competition and part handling the pressure. As Chef Gizzy shared in her exit interview, the whole competition can be very consuming. After a while, the pressure can become a lot to handle.

In this exclusive preview clip from FOX, Brett is overcome by the pressure.

Seeing anyone overcome by a health scare is horrible. While I personally do not know the outcome in this episode, the idea of a health emergency on an episode is frightening. It appears that Brett is definitely being affected by the pressure of the competition.

Truthfully, I really feel for Brett. Throughout this whole season, Brett has been very emotional. Going from extreme highs in the beginning of the season to his apology tour in other episodes, he has been on an emotional roller coaster. All that stress could be causing damage to his health.

This preview clip brings up an important point about a chef’s life. Working in a restaurant is hard. While a guest sees a beautifully plated dish and a delicious bite of food, that dish could have taken hours or even a day to make.

Chefs work long hours. They sacrifice time with their families and friends to create delicious food for restaurant guests. While a highly vocal executive chef at the pass, like Chef Ramsay, might not be in every restaurant, there is pressure to execute, perform and deliver in every restaurant. To be a great chef requires a lot of hard work and dedication.

Throughout Hell’s Kitchen Season 18, the food competition show has brought to light many important subjects. From Chef Chris’ decision to leave the competition to dedication of service men and women, there has been a sense of poignancy in many episodes.

While not overt, it seems that Hell’s Kitchen has softened a little. Of course Chef Ramsay still demands excellence and is quite vocal, but the theatrics aren’t the only storyline this season and that is a good thing. Food is a universal language and it is good to see this show use food to discuss other topics.

Still, Hell’s Kitchen fans want to know which chef will eventually be crowned winner of Hell’s Kitchen Season 18. First, these 10 chefs have to make it through this week’s episode.
