Love is in the air on this week’s Wedding Cake Championship episode. Could these wedding cakes be the ultimate celebration of online dating?
Each week the baking duos on Wedding Cake Championship need to find a way to deliver more impressive wedding cakes. In this week’s episode, the theme might not be as straight forward as previous challenges. Where will these baking duos search for some creativity?
According to the Food Network, this week’s episode, “A Tale of Two Stephanies” synopsis states:
"The first challenge for the four remaining teams is to create cake toppers that pay homage to online dating. Then hosts Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir introduce the bakers to their clients, Stephanie and Stephanie, a couple with the same name who met online. The bakers are challenged with combining Stephanie P.’s love of nature with Stephanie L.’s fondness for steampunk. As for flavor, they both love peanut butter and chocolate but ask the bakers to surprise them with a twist. Judges Kimberly Bailey, Maneet Chauhan and Randy Fenoli decide which three teams move on to the finale."
For the cake topper challenge, the theme of online dating could be almost anything. While a computer screen or a phone might be obvious, the baking duos who can finding some creative inspiration might secure an advantage. Hopefully, these cake toppers will have everyone swiping right.
In the wedding cake challenge, the flavors of chocolate and peanut butter are quite common. The key to this combination is to find the right balance. While a chocolate cake with a peanut butter filling could be obvious, what if the bakers did the opposite, a peanut butter cake with a chocolate filling?
As for the surprise twist, that element could throw the baking duos off their game. While some twists are quite doable, any baking competition doesn’t go for the tradition or obvious twist. To win the Wedding Cake Championship title, these baking duos need to prove that they are the best of the best.
