This episode of MasterChef brings a culinary legend to the kitchen. With Iron Chef and culinary legend Masaharu Morimoto in the kitchen, everyone is nervous.

MasterChef Season 10 said that it was going to go big. In this week’s episode, the special guest judge is a culinary legend and Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto. Everyone better hold onto their aprons.

According to FOX, this week’s episode, “King of the Crabs” features the following synopsis.

"The Top 13 endure an immunity challenge fit for a king when they are tasked with breaking down Alaskan king crabs. Special guest Chef Masaharu Morimoto enters the MASTERCHEF kitchen, where the contestants will have to craft something magical for him in under 60 minutes. Halfway to the finale, the judges expect nothing but legendary meals from the home cooks. Who will survive the challenge and receive a special surprise? Find out in the all-new “King of The Crabs” episode of MASTERCHEF airing Wednesday, July 24 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX."

First, another shell fish challenge could cause a major issue in the kitchen. Noah has a severe shellfish allergy (remember the lobster). How will he be able to compete in breaking down a complete king crab? Better have that epi-pen ready.

The biggest thrill from this week’s episode will be Chef Morimoto. He is a legend, especially regarding seafood. These home cooks are getting the ultimate cooking lesson from a culinary master.

With everyone have a fan moment, it will be interesting to see how each home cook approaches their king crab dish. Should the cooks go simple or complicated?

Check out this preview clip from tonight’s episode.

Thinking about this challenge, the home cooks should take an Iron Chef approach. Meaning, the home cooks need to highlight the king crab. Every bite should ensure that this ingredient is the star of the dish.

In many ways, the dish should be simple. King crab should not be overpowered by spices and garnishes. While it needs elements to bring out the flavor, it should never be overshadowed.

The home cooks who employ restraint in their dishes should do well. While creativity can be a compelling, a good chef always pulls back a little. When five components work, there shouldn’t be 10 on the plate.
