Do you dare brave the zombie rainbow this Halloween?
Skittles have always had an irreverent side, but this Halloween the zombie rainbow might have your taste buds questioning are you brave enough.
If all the Skittles look the same, shouldn’t they all have the same flavor? With the new Zombie Skittles that belief isn’t quite true. Could this candy be the ultimate Halloween trick or treat?
After much anticipating, Zombie Skittles will be hitting store shelved this month. While the five fruity flavors, “Petrifying Citrus Punch, Mummified Melon, Boogeyman Blackberry, Chilling Black Cherry, and Blood Red Berry” sound quite tempting, there are a few surprises in each bag. Are you prepared for the dreaded rotten zombie?
While Mars hasn’t quite revealed what a rotten zombie flavor tastes like, the flavor should make you do a double take. Since this rotten zombie flavor looks just like the other fruity flavors, you have no way of knowing if that next bite could bite back.
SKITTLES® Senior Brand Manager, Mars Wrigley U.S. said, “This Halloween, we wanted to give our fans the ultimate rotten twist on the candy they know and love, challenging them to test their bravery over a bag of Zombie SKITTLES®.
In a way, it is like the ultimate blind taste test. Anyone who opens a bag of these candies will need to accept that there is a questionable flavor in each bag. If you can’t accept the challenge, these candies might not be for you.
With Halloween season approaching, just think of the fun that this candy offers. A big bowl of these candies on a table could be the ultimate food prank for the spooky holiday.
Thinking about the rotten zombie flavor, it will be curious is the flavor is the same with all the candies. For example, a Petrifying Citrus Punch could easily go overly sour which could make it a zombie flavor. Or, Blood Red Berry could have a hint of beet which could make lots of people unpleasantly surprised. Until FoodSided does a taste test, all of these ideas are just speculation.
Given all the types of expansion to the Skittles brand, this hidden rotten flavor is fun. While everyone enjoys eating the rainbow, the brand understands that it needs to evolve. From sour to spicy, the new flavors keep pushing the envelope without straying from its fan base. Plus, the brand is always looking to have a little fun with candy. Remember the Super Bowl commercial?
