Shake for Champagne, Virgin Voyages offers champagne on demand
Virgin Voyages is set to disrupt the travel industry. With the Shake for Champagne concept, cruising is going to be even more celebratory.
Would you like champagne delivered on demand? Virgin Voyages thinks that a little bubbly, where you want it and when you want it is essential on its vessel. With just a shake, any “sailor” (guest) can have an effervescent sip delivered.
While cruising has legions of fans, Virgin Voyages looks to set itself apart from other mega cruise ships and themed vacations. Similar to how the brand added its own personality to the airline and hotel industry, the brand’s approach to cruising looks to disrupt the industry.
Looking at renderings and reviewing recent announcements, the Scarlet Lady is more about the cruising luxury. From the beautifully appointed rooms to the elevated dining experiences, this ship will be the epitome of cruising elite.
After sharing details on the exclusive beer available on the Scarlet Lady, Virgin is shaking up another libation. The new Shake for Champagne service will definitely have people take notice.
The concept is rather simple. With just a push of a button (or shake of the Virgin Voyages sailor app), Möet Chandon Impérial will be delivered to the guest. The delivery consists of a Virgin red champagne bucket, a 750 ml bottle of Möet Chandon Imperial and two glasses.
Whether you are in your room, on deck or just about anywhere. Doesn’t a glass of bubbly make any moment more special?

According to Nathan Rosenberg, CMO Virgin Voyages, “There’s nothing more luxurious than having champagne at your beck and call or even a shake. We are committed to creating the world’s most irresistible travel brand, so we thought long and hard about how to help our Sailors effortlessly get a sip of bubbly during their voyage, and presto Shake for Champagne was conjured up!”
In some ways, this concept brings an aspect of private sailing to the larger cruise ship. While the uber elite can have a private ship with all the amenities, the reality for the normal person is quite different. This Shake for Champagne service offers that type of elite service for all its guests.
Since this service is from Virgin, there is a little tongue and cheek humor. According to the app, the screen says, “Save Water, Drink Champagne.” While this statement is slightly over the top, it is on brand and it does entice guests to give the app a “shake.”
In addition to the on demand champagne service, Virgin Voyages announced details regarding Sip, the champagne lounge and caviar bar. Looking at the renderings, this lounge is the epitomizes the luxury and indulgence of a champagne and caviar pairing. From the marble and rose gold details to the long sleek lines, every aspect reflects the beauty and refinery that people expect from this ship.
Still, Sip has found a way to cater to all its guests. The champagne offerings vary from $9 a glass to the ultimate vintage bottles. That breadth shows that this ship wants everyone to have the opportunity to experience all of life’s luxuries.
Virgin Voyages looks to set sail on its inaugural voyages in 2020. Bookings are available now.
