Cristine Struble: Why did you want to compete on Worst Cooks in America?
Kelly Ngoc Mac: I entered with the intent to learn and win for my daughter.
CS: The season began with recruits making a signature dish. Why did you choose this particular dish?
KNM: I chose pho as I have not cooked it authentically as a Vietnamese woman, although I’ve tried yet, not successful. Yes viewers, chef Anne Burrell and Alton witnessed I can not cook.
CS: What has been your biggest cooking fail?
KNM: I can’t cook “official meals”. I over cooked meat because I don’t want to serve under meats.
CS: Your bio says that you’re a fitness instructor and workout fanatic, do you think that learning how to cook well can fit your healthy lifestyle?
KNM: Yes especially how to use cooking equipment and to cook meals.
CS: You are on Alton’s team. Some people are commenting on his blunt commentary. Do you think that he helped to make you a better cook?
KNM: Being on his team has helped me how to cook, but I am a trainer, I am their cheerleader and my approach is gentler and lifts my clients. That’s my style.
CS: What is the one tip that you learned on Worst Cooks that you apply every day while cooking at home?
KNM: I learned the difference types of measuring cups and knives and knife skills.
CS: Is there a dish or a food that you wish that you had learned how to cook on Worst Cooks?
KMN: I’d have liked to learn how to make healthy meals. The meals we prepared were everyday meal for most people. As a trainer, I’d appreciate to learn more “healthy” options.
CS: If given the choice, would you be on Worst Cooks in America again?
KMN: Yes! Definitely! I’m ready! My fans ask after each episode asking why so little on camera? So YES bring MamaK back in the kitchen!
