While the typical Mother’s Day brunch might be off the table, what does mom want to eat for Mother’s Day? This year’s celebration might be tastier than you think.

As May starts, families start to wonder, what does mom want to eat for Mother’s Day? Often families plan a special brunch at a favorite restaurant. With that option off the table, how will families be celebrating mom this year?

Although many people are discovering the joy of cooking, ensuring that mom has a tasty and stress free Mother’s Day is important for many families. Even though some people are master bakers and talented foodie chefs, other people prefer to order that special meal. While many restaurants are offering takeout and delivery, what should you order for mom this year?

Recently, Yelp looked at recent data to see food ordering trends. Although it is probably best to ask mom what she wants, these trends might be a smart choice, too.

Instead of getting mom a big cake, she might want some donuts. Orders for donut delivery have increased. From those new fruit glazed Krispy Kreme donuts to a favorite local shop, maybe donuts and coffee for breakfast can be a great way to start the day. And, donuts can make a great dessert; they aren’t just a breakfast food.

Another big trend is family style meals. Although not the endless brunch buffet, the larger quantities of food ensures that no one goes hungry. From bountiful plates of pasta to a taco bar, there are all types of option. Plus, if you order a little extra, there might be leftovers. Giving mom another meal that she doesn’t have to cook is a good idea.

While it might not be a bottomless mimosa, mom might like a cocktail for the holiday. Luckily, many restaurants and companies are offering liquor delivery. From your favorite cocktail from your local haunt to wine delivery, there are many options for mom to raise a glass. Since it is her special day, maybe order two. Remembers, she isn’t lifting a finger on Mother’s Day.

These ideas from Yelp are just a few Mother’s Day trends. Remember the best way to ensure that mom has a special day is to ask her what she wants to eat for Mother’s Day. Buying her steak when all she wants is lobster may not make you her favorite child this year.
