National Gingerbread House Day is the food holiday that is part eating and part creativity.

On December 12, National Gingerbread House Day is the perfect excuse to enjoy a holiday food tradition. While baking the perfect gingerbread cookie might take some skill, creating a gingerbread house might bring some extra merry to the holiday table. And, if you prefer to just eat a sweet treat for the food holiday, that is a great idea, too.

The traditional gingerbread house kit has taken on a new look. Alongside those traditional houses, there are pop culture inspired gingerbread houses. From Barbie’s Dream House to the Minions, these holiday treats available at Walmart let the imagination go wild.

While the homemade gingerbread house is a family tradition, many places have their own gingerbread house traditions. At Taste of Epcot International Festival of the Holidays, the Disney Chefs have prepared a Washington DC display. Located in the Festival Events Pavilion, it is a confectionery masterpiece. But, will you be able to find all the hidden Mickey’s?

Of course, many people would just rather eat the gingerbread than create with it. While that gingerbread man cookie is always tasty, it isn’t the only way to enjoy the gingerbread flavor. For example, Universal Orlando’s Holiday Tribute Store has a delicious gingerbread whoopie pie.

Also, stores, like Stop and Shop have a gingerbread pancake and waffle mix. With a pancake mold, you can make a gingerbread man pancake.

Or, if you are a weekend warrior, RXBAR has a delicious gingerbread flavor for the holiday season. Packed with protein but no added sugar, the RXBAR brings all that delicious gingerbread flavor without the guilt. You might like it better than some gingerbread cookies.

Baked treats aren’t the only way to enjoy that gingerbread flavor. Halo Top brought back their gingerbread frozen dessert. You can even crumble some gingerbread cookies into the frozen treat for added gingerbread flavor.

For adults, why not have a gingerbread flavored cocktail. Captain Morgan Gingerbread is perfect for the National Gingerbread House Day celebration. While you could pour a little into some hot chocolate, here’s another cocktail option. And, if the kids are eating more the candy instead of decorating the gingerbread house with it, this cocktail might make you feel a little more merry.
