Oh no, it’s the 4th of July, and Chick-fil-A is closed! How are we going to celebrate our nation’s birthday without a fast food chicken sandwich?! What would our forefathers think?!

First of all, it’s Sunday, so even if George Washington himself miraculously reappeared and rowed his way down the Delaware River in search of a breaded chicken sandwich wrapped in a foil-lined packet, Chick-fil-A was never going to be open on July 4th. So what to do?

Well, if you’re still jonesing for a breaded chicken sandwich, there are countless other fast-food chains that await your patronage. And while they may lack the requisite butter that often drenches the Chick-fil-A version of the popular item, they’re certainly a reasonable facsimile in an Independence Day crunch.

Hey, Burger King‘s open on the 4th! You can run right out and get your Ch-King on! And while BK’s latest iteration of a breaded chicken sandwich is thicker than a print edition of Tolstoy’s War and Peace, it would still suffice as an adequate replacement.

Wouldn’t you know it, KFC is open too and if you stopped by there to grab a breaded chicken sandwich, you’d be making the Colonel very happy. He seems quite salty lately about non-chicken restaurants treading in his coop.

Yup, McDonald’s is also open, giving you yet another viable option to satisfy your yen for hen. And it’s a decent version of the popular sandwich too, so have at it. Just make sure the fries are hot!

Guess who else is open on the 4th?! Wendy’s! That’s right, everyone’s favorite poorly-dressed ginger eagerly awaits you as you seek to satisfy your holiday craving for a breaded chicken sandwich. Go for the spicy version and pair it with a Frosty. What a country!

Since it is the 4th of July, you could simply opt to put off the breaded chicken sandwich cravings for just a day and do what many people do — grill! By firing up that grill, the world is your oyster. Whether you’re a traditionalist and go the burgers & hot dogs route or are inclined to throw a rack of ribs or steaks on the fire, there’s no limit to what delicious delights you can pull off the barbie today. You’re only limited by your imagination.

Come to think of it, you can even grill some…chicken!
