The Halloween Baking Championship Season 7 premiere has a new set of bakers ready to take this Food Network baking challenge to a new level. Wonder what spooky treats are awaiting the bakers in this movie themed challenge?

According to Food Network, the Halloween Baking Championship Season 7 premiere episode, “Welcome to Camp Devil’s Food Lake” features the following:

"John Henson hosts as 10 bakers pay tribute to 1980s classic slasher movies at Camp Devil’s Food Lake and compete for a chance to take home $25,000. The competitors tackle “cereal killer” pies and mega cakes to impress judges Stephanie Boswell, Carla Hall and Zac Young."

While Food Network should get credit for avoiding the 13 number trappings in this slasher movie connection, the first couple of challenges in Halloween Baking Championship are the way for the bakers to get a sense of the competition. Sometimes the goal isn’t to win, but no one wants to be the first person eliminated.

Looking at the challenges, cereal pies is an interesting choice. Pies are usually one of the most difficult challenges on a food competition show. No one likes a soggy bottom.

Thinking of cereal pies, it will be curious to see which cereal flavors are included. Maybe all those Monster Cereals could make an appearance in this challenge.

In both the Halloween Baking Championship Season 7 premiere and future episodes, the Food Network baking show is taking a spooky turn. Viewers can expect that these treats are less sweet and more sinister.

Still, the visual is just one component of this food competition. The flavors need to deliver in just one bite.

While this episode might give everyone their fill of devil’s food cake, it will be interesting to see how new flavors can be incorporated into this season. Although all the spring and summer flavors need to be kept under a spell, hopefully there will be more than pumpkin spice desserts on the table.

Lastly, the judges costumes are always a highlight of each episode. It will be interesting to see how the costumes coordinate with the episode themes.

Halloween Baking Championship Season 7 airs on Mondays at 9 p.m. on Food Network.
