BK Royal Perks Members get side of cryptocurrency
Ready to upgrade that crown? In the newest Burger King promotion, BK Royal Perks Members could get a side of cryptocurrency with their food order. Could this newest promotion spark a bigger conversation in the quick service restaurant world?
Burger King pushes the conversation forward. From that first Impossible Whopper to its loyalty rewards program, the popular quick service restaurant brand continually looks for new ways to bring innovation to the table. From new food to better service, the brand appreciates that it can never be stagnant.
While paying with an app has become the norm at many restaurants, that convenience could be transforming in another way. Could another currency be used to purchase that BK Meal?
How can BK Royal Perks Members get a side of cryptocurrency?
According to Burger King, the company is partnering with Robinhood Crypto to give BK Royal Perks Members an additional perk. Here’s how the program works.
“Starting Nov.1 through Nov. 21, Royal Perks members who spend $5 or more on the BK app, website, or in-restaurant using “My Code” (where available) at participating U.S. restaurants, will be rewarded with a side of cryptocurrency powered by Robinhood Crypto.” The cryptocurrency awarded will include Dogecoin, Ethereum and Bitcoin. To be clear, this event is a prize giveaway.
Additional qualifications include one prize code per day and guests must make a qualifying purchase. The BK rewards program must be associated with the qualifying purchase. Guests have to register with Robinhood Crypto and/or the company’s app to redeem their cryptocurrency.
Although this promotion is a giveaway, it could present a change within the quick service restaurants. Could cryptocurrency be a new form of payment for that Whopper and fries? Even though current event is a promotion, it could be the wave of the future.
Given the value fluctuations of the cryptocurrency it might be difficult to price/value menu items, but it could be coming. After all, who would have thought that an NFT would become so valuable?
