Whether it is a Sunday tradition or a special holiday meal, brunch is often served with a cocktail. From the restaurant that has the hottest table to the home cook whipping up a delicious meal, a beverage is often front and center. What is the most popular brunch cocktail?

Many people have a signature cocktail. While beer and wine might always be poured, a specialty cocktail often refreshes in no other way.

When it comes to brunch, the cocktail is often lighter, fruit forward. Even though some people might like some sparkling wine, a simple lager or any other beverage of their choosing, particular brunch cocktails are often within reach.

Recently, Shane Co looked to Google Analytics and search trends to determine what is the most popular brunch cocktail. While the corks might always be popping, it appears that another cocktail is filling the class.

According to their findings, the Screwdriver is the most popular brunch cocktail. The combination of orange juice and vodka might be simple, but it pairs well with a variety of brunch dishes. From savory egg dishes to sweet waffles, it pairs delightfully well with almost anything.

And, for people who like a little spirited conversation with that meal, consider how the cocktail received its name. It goes back to the workers who didn’t want anyone to know that vodka was in that orange juice. They would use their screwdrivers to mix the drinks so that no one would know.

But, if a screwdriver doesn’t satisfy, other cocktails often fill the glass. Mimosas come in a close second. And, that mimosa can be elevated in a variety of ways. From combining juices to a fruit garnish, there are plenty of ways to make it special.

The more surprising find was that the third most popular choice is Sex on the Beach. Maybe people are having more brunch cocktails on vacation.

Even more curious was that the Bloody Mary, a classic brunch cocktail, was down at number five. Maybe people consider some of those Bloody Mary cocktails a meal versus just a beverage.

What brunch cocktail is your favorite? Is it about the hair of the dog or do you rather have coffee with that mid-day meal?
