Prisoner Wine Company has always had a slightly unconventional approach to wine. While the company’s signature red blend calls to wine drinkers with its carefully curated combination of varietals, it is more than just the wine in the bottle. From the label to the experience, the company has long sought to dispel preconceptions about wine. With its newest offering, Blindfold Wine, wine drinkers will look at white wine in a whole new way.

Wine drinkers come in all forms. While the celebrated sommelier can impress with knowledge about terroir, vintages and more, others just love a great glass of wine. Beyond the wine pairings dinners, special releases and other bottles, most people want to open a bottle with someone and sip the night away.

With Prisoner Wine Company, the wine maker has long sought to redefine taste. Whether it is unshackling preconceptions about wine or joining together precision to create an exquisite sip, each wine offering invites drinkers to drink, enjoy and maybe ponder, a little.

What is Blindfold Wine from Prisoner Wine Company?

The newest offering from Prisoner Wine Company is Blindfold. The 2021 Blanc de Noir from Sonoma County is a “still white wine made from red Pinot Noir grapes.” While pictures seem to show just a hint of color, the wine makers describe it as having the “slightest salmon colored hue.” In addition, the wine combines the Pinot Noir with some Viognier and Gewurztraminer.

Described as “light, elegant, and vibrant,” the flavors exude a touch of citrus, white peach and even a note of cranberry. Appearing to be a versatile wine, this bottle might replace that rose.

According to Chrissy Wittmann, Director of Winemaking, The Prisoner Wine Company, “Introducing Blindfold with our first bottling of a 2021 Blanc de Noir is something our team is very proud of. The Prisoner Red Blend is what made The Prisoner Wine Company what it is today, and we saw an opportunity to take that signature formula of blending uncommon varietals to a new category with white wine.”

While Blindfold Wine might be a new category, Prisoner Wine Company is staying true to one of its signatures, a visually enticing label. The appearance looks like textured fabric and wine drinkers will want to reach out to touch the bottle. In addition, the bottle can reveal a special message as it is enjoyed. Sometimes it pays to open your eyes.

Blindfold Wine from Prisoner Wine Company is available to be purchased via the wine maker’s website. A bottle sells for $35.
