Oscar Mayer Cold Dog is the innovative way to beat the heat
Summer and hot dogs go hand in hand. While people can debate the “right” condiments or question how Miki Sudo can eat so many hot dogs in one sitting, the reality is that the classic food always has a spot on the table. With food mash-ups taking center plate this summer, a new offering will have many people voicing their opinion. Are you prepared for the Oscar Mayer Cold Dog?
This summer has seen various foods take an unexpected twist. From the Velveeta Martini to the Mustard Donut, culinary creativity is pushing people outside of their comfort zone. Although people might balk at first bite, others are open to the experience. Even if it will never be that weekly menu item, embracing the unique is never a bad thing in the food world.
Recently, Oscar Mayer posed a simple question on social media – Cold Dog, Stupid or Genius. While the Instagram commentary was quite robust, the reality was this idea was not part of the zeitgeist. Until now, that is.
In conjunction with Popbar, people can get a taste of that Oscar Mayer Cold Dog. If there was ever a way to end the Summer of 2022 with a bang, this frozen food might be that bite.
As Anne Field, Head of North American Brand Communications, Oscar Mayer said, “After the overwhelming fan excitement for our beloved Cold Dog, it was a no-brainer to make this hot dog-inspired frozen pop a reality. For more than 130 years, Oscar Mayer has been sparking smiles and bringing levity into everyday moments, and we are thrilled to bring fans another wonderfully odd way to enjoy our iconic wiener while beating the summer heat.”
To be clear, this frozen food is meant to taste like the Oscar Mayer wiener that everyone knows and loves. It is described as “refreshing and smokey with umami notes.” Plus, there is a “mustard” swirl (sorry ketchup fans).
The Oscar Mayer Cold Dog can be purchased at select Popbar locations for $2.00 each. In addition, the iconic Wienermobile is getting an icy makeover. The beloved pop culture symbol will be offering Cold Dogs in New York and New Jersey through August 27.
