While the Norwegian Cruise Line Prima has set a new course for food and beverage in the travel industry, a new episode of EMBARK with NCL lifts the cloche to reveal a tantalizing dish that guests will be able to savor on board. Although none of the three NCL culinary talents will be chopped, this fierce battle for kitchen supremacy has more than just one winner. Diners who get a taste of the winning dish will have a food memory for a lifetime.

For many people, a cruise experience is more than just any getaway. Although the concept of unpack once and travel to multiple destination calls many adventures, it is more than just a mobile place to put your head. The whole experience, especially the food and beverage options, drive many people to book another trip.

With Norwegian Cruise Line, the brand has been looking to elevate its culinary offerings. As seen on the new Norwegian Prima, the addition of the Indulge Food Hall, Sustainable Cocktail program and even mocktail offerings showcase the forward thinking brought to the sailing component. Even though some travelers cannot resist the endless bounty on the buffet, it is the breadth of specialty offerings that excite guests.

Given that guests want a glimpse behind the door, the EMBARK with NCL Cruise Cook-Off is that window to the kitchen pass. Premiering on Thursday, September 15 at 8 p.m. ET, the cooking competition pits NCL chefs against each other for ultimate food bragging rights.

According to Harry Sommer, Norwegian Cruise Line president, and chief executive officer “We have a history of delivering some of the best cuisine at sea. In fact, we are investing heavily in our food and beverage experience so what better way to get the creative juices flowing than a friendly competition amongst our talented chefs. ‘The Great Cruise Cookoff’ invites viewers into the kitchen and gives them a seat at the table to witness the behind-the-scenes action. I can’t wait for our guests to see, smell and savor the winning dish!”

Competing in this event are Corporate Executive Chef Michael Koertgen, Director of Culinary Operations Eric Bilodeau, and Corporate Executive Chef Didier Lailheugue. Through 60 minutes of furious cooking, each offering proves that NCL is committed to fostering culinary creativity.

As seen on the recently launched Prima, the diverse food offerings ensure that every craving is met. From the new Palomar, featuring seafood forward Mediterranean cuisine to NCL favorites like Cagney’s, guests can always find a dish that enhances their travel experience.

Although guests will have to watch the EMBARK with NCL to see the final outcome, it will hopefully entice them to want to sit at a table and enjoy these culinary creations. Hopefully, that sense of wanderlust is a hunger that needs to be satisfied.
