General Mills blasts off with Guardians of the Galaxy for new cosmic creations
As Marvel fans count down the day till Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 comes to theaters, food brands are building excitement with special partnerships. While some people have sipped on special beverages and snacked on sweet and salty creations, General Mills is giving some of its iconic brands a cosmic makeover. Ready to blast off into this newest collaboration?
Over the years, General Mills has partnered with various famous characters, movies, and other pop culture items. Whether it is special packaging, innovative flavors, or a combination of them both, fans ran to scoop up the special offerings before they disappeared from the shelf. From Loki Charms to Spider-Man Cinnamon Toast Crunch, there have been no shortage of collaborations.
With the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, many brands are looking to bring that cosmix adventure to the home kitchen and table. Even if the food might not be featured in the film, many people feel and taste a connection in another way.
As Adriana Hernández-Fernández, Associate Manager, Morning Foods Cultural Portfolio Events for General Mills said, “Marvel Studios’ ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ and General Mills have a lot in common, from our passionate fans to our iconic characters – some could say this collaboration was written in the stars. We are thrilled to announce a collection made specifically for our superfans to celebrate the new film.”
What food items are included in the General Mills Guardians of the Galaxy collaboration?
According to the food brand, there are three areas that will be transformed with Guardians of the Galaxy characters. First, several of the General Mills’ mascots will match some of the favorite characters. Even if L.C. Leprechaun is more verbose that Groot, the packaging will catch everyone’s imagination. The designs will be available on Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Honey Nut Cheerios, Lucky Charms, REESE’S PUFFS, Trix and Cookie Crisp.
In addition, Walmart-exclusive kits will feature all six cereal boxes and a six-pin set. Priced at $59.98 and available starting May 3 on Walmart.com, many people will be stalking the website to make that special purchase.
If cereal bars are preferred over that bowl, both the Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Lucky Charms cereal bars are getting a Guardians makeover. Whether or not there is a soundtrack to snack time remains to be seen.
Lastly, Groot-Gurt will have everyone cheering beyond just one single word of delight. The special Groot-Gurt will be available in Berry, Cotton Candy, Mixed Berry, Strawberry and Strawberry Banana flavors.
