Many people have a favorite pizza topping. While some people are pizza purists, others might want to embrace a new food trend. Even if pepperoni might often top the fan favorite list, thinking a little outside the traditional topping can be exciting. Ready to enjoy a slice of Pizza Hut Pickle Pizza?

Pickles, and pickle flavors, continue to be part of the food trend conversation. While that briny delight might be great on a burger or garnishing a Bloody Mary, those uses are just a few options. That pickle flavor has been incorporated into chips, ranch, and a variety of other food items.

As the first national quick service restaurant to offer this topping, the Pizza Hut Pickle Pizza is ready to be sliced. Even if there will be fans and foes with this food offering, many people will want to enjoy a slice just because. After all, no one wants to be sitting on the sidelines on the must try food offering.

According to Penny Shaheen, Head of Food Innovation, at Pizza Hut, “We’re always looking for innovative ways to add new tastes and textures to our dishes, and pickles have been gaining popularity due to their versatility. With our new Pickle Pizza, we’re tapping into the latest food trends while also putting culinary thought into how they come to life on a pizza. Our recipe is all about great flavor, balancing the tanginess of pickles with other classic ingredients we know taste good on our beloved pizza.”

To be clear, this special offering is more than just pickles, a drizzle of ranch and some pizza dough. It is more like transforming a sandwich and putting it on a pizza.

The Pizza Hut Pickle Pizza combines Nashville Hot Seasoned crispy breaded chicken breast, white onion, and a generous helping of pickles. Those toppings are served on a hand tossed crust, which has a Buttermilk Ranch sauce, and topped with cheese as well as an additional drizzle of Buttermilk Ranch.

In some ways, this pizza is more like Nashville Chicken Ranch pickle pizza. Even though it is pickle heavy, it is more than just a bunch of pickles. The chicken helps to bring balance to the flavor combinations. If it was just a pie with pickles and ranch, some people might not be able to eat more than a single slice.

It is interesting that the pickles are not fried. Although that flavor might be a little heavier, it would offer a textural difference and could play off the other flavors. As long as the pickles do not make the pie soggy, everyone should be happy.

While many people would love to place an order for this Pizza Hut Pickle Pizza, there is only one location where it is being served. Available exclusively for carry out, it must be ordered in store at the Pizza Hut located on 932 8th Avenue in New York City location. The special pizza is available from June 9 through June 17. The pizza costs $17.99.

Could this Pizza Hut Pickle Pizza arrive at the local restaurant? Only time will tell. For anyone who gets the first taste, it will be interesting to hear their commentary. Some people might have scoffed at the idea of the Stuffed Crust and now it is everywhere. Pickle pizza could be next.
