While the fireworks might cap off the evening, food keeps the July 4th celebration going all day long. Given that themed foods often fill the table, many hosts want to ensure that the offerings get people talking, and maybe snapping that food photo. Which most popular red white and blue foods are guests craving this year?

Google Trends compiled its list of “most searched red, white and blue foods.” Although there might not necessarily be a naturally blue food, there are some options that capture that patriotic color scheme. Even if the blue might be enhanced with a little help, the concept is still there. Sometimes it is the effort, not the precise visual, that matters the most.

According to Google Trends, the most popular red white and blue foods are:

  • Cheesecake salad
  • Salad
  • Trifle
  • Cookies
  • Rice Krispies
  • Charcuterie board
  • Fruit salad
  • Potato salad
  • Poke cake
  • Salad with cream cheese

Looking at the 10 listed items, they are mostly sweet dishes. Cookies, Rice Krispies Treats, Poke Cake and more are all items that would fill the dessert table. In addition, those items can easily be colored with sprinkles, dessert drizzles, and other toppings.

It is interesting that flag cakes or other patriotic themed desserts did not top the top 10 list. Even though those desserts can be intricate to make, they make a huge impression on guests. After all, there should be at least one showstopper on every table.

One dish that might be a little confusing is cheesecake salad. It might not necessarily be church salad, but it is a popular side dish at some gatherings.

Looking at some of the food choices on the list, potato salad is an interesting option. While it is easy to use red potatoes, Yukon golds, and even some purple potatoes to make that salad, it is not the typical red, white and blue food that comes to mind. Maybe potato salad is just a staple side dish at a summer barbecue.

Lastly, the charcuterie board might be an easy option to transform into a patriotic image. From flags to stars, there are plenty of ways to transform all those ingredients into a stunning visual. It might take a few minutes to plan out the display, but it is totally worth the effort.

Ready to add some of the most popular red, white and blue foods to the celebration? The impressive visual could make the dish appear even more flavorful.
