Taco Bell Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco is inspired by birria’s flavors
While many people have their favorite taco order or maybe never stray from that Chalupa, the Taco Bell Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco could become the new favorite menu item. Drawing inspiration from the slow braised, flavorful birria, this food item will have many people grabbing a Baja Blast and toasting to the Live Mas sentiment.
According to a recent announcement, the Taco Bell Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco is the newest Grilled Cheese offerings on the menu. For this version, the three-cheese blend is featured both inside and outside the white corn shell. From the melty goodness inside to the crispy grilled cheese on the outside, it is cheese overload.
While the cheesy bite offers that unctuous flavor, it is the birria that sets this food item apart. The slow braised beef has a robust flavor due to the spices. Since Taco Bell took two years to perfect their recipe, the brand appreciates that this classic ingredient needed to be made with care.
Liz Matthews, Global Chief Food Innovation Officer at Taco Bell, said, “The rich and spicy flavors often found in birria were a major point of inspiration as we created the new Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco. By combining slow-braised shredded beef with the two dipping sauces, our fans can enjoy a new range of flavors they may have never had from Taco Bell before. This Mexican-inspired dish represents an evolution of what fans typically expect from Taco Bell. We’re excited to bring this menu item nationwide after an incredibly successful test in 2022.”
The dipping sauces are another addition for Taco Bell. While its infamous hot sauce packets are legendary, there is a difference with a dipping sauce. This particular offering is served with warm nacho cheese sauce and Taco Bell’s zesty red sauce.
Although those sauces should never overpower the other flavors, the option gives consumers more choices in how they enjoy their meal. From a drizzle to a big dunk, the sauce leans into guests’ customization. It puts them in control of every bite.
Looking at Matthews’ statement, the idea of the evolution of Taco Bell might be the concept heading into 2024. While many people have come to expect great value and a refreshing Baja Blast from the quick service restaurant, it does not have to be the only food on the menu. Incorporating classic flavors or having a nod to culturally relevant dishes could make the food brand more popular with its audience. As seen over the past several years, the brand’s loyal fans are not afraid to ensure that their voice is heard. From the return of the Mexican Pizza to voting on other menu items, the power to the people is clear.
The Taco Bell Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco will be available starting August 3. The suggested price is $3.49 for an a la carte taco.
