Burger King Ghost Pepper Chicken Fries offer a new flame experience
While Burger King is known for its flame-grilled Whopper sandwich, a new flavor experience is bringing the heat to the spooky season. The Burger King Ghost Pepper Chicken Fries have everyone reaching for a flaming good spicy food.
Halloween has become a huge driver in the quick service restaurant space. It is more than just the pre-Trick or Treating meal or a special toy that captures the spooky season. People want food items that bring a response. Often, that option involves a bold flavor that can get a little color rise in the cheeks.
In previous years, Burger King has used its Whopper as its spooky season offering. From changing the bun’s color to evolving the flavor, there was a little shock and awe. But, guests could not get enough of that unique take on everyone’s favorite flame-grilled food.
Others wanted more than just a bold burger. Burger King’s Chicken Fries have become a favorite menu item. Given that spicy, fiery flavors can take over that conversation as well. It seemed that Burger King had two camps divided over which menu item deserved the flavorful makeover.
According to Pat O’Toole, Chief Marketing Officer, Burger King North America, “Earlier this year, we asked Guests if we should bring back the Ghost Pepper Whopper or introduce Ghost Pepper Chicken Fries. The results were split, so we’re adding both products to our menus nationwide this Halloween season, giving Guests multiple ways to enjoy the perfect combination of flavor and heat. We’re excited for fans to have a new way to enjoy our signature Chicken Fries and bring back the Ghost Pepper Whopper with an eye-catching orange bun achieved with the use of paprika, showing that spook-tacular innovations don’t mean you have to sacrifice quality or flavor.”
The Burger King Ghost Pepper Chicken Fries will have people running to get that first taste. Even though Burger King has offered Spicy Chicken Fries, Buffalo Chicken Fries, Jalapeño Chicken Fries, this new menu item is higher on that Scoville scale. It might not be as extreme as a Hot Ones challenge, but it will not shy away from the spice.
Still, there should be a touch of fruitiness to the ghost pepper flavor. Combining that with the fried aspect, it can be approachable to the spice worried. And, the scary spice can be tempered with some ranch.
The new Burger King Ghost Pepper Chicken Fries are available in 4, 8 and 12-pieces. They are sold with a choice of dipping sauce.
The Ghost Pepper Whopper is back with its classic ingredients topping that flame-grilled patty, including melty spicy queso, crispy jalapeños, bacon and ghost pepper cheese. The eye-popping color in that bun comes from paprika and black sesame seeds.
Truthfully, the bun is the concept that many people can borrow for their own Halloween food creation. A little paprika can easily change the color, and flavor, of a dish. Why not create your own spooky burger creation at home.
